YOU'LL FIND JESUS THERE

"Tomorrow morning I'll open up your heart" the surgeon said to the 8 year-old-boy.

"You'll find Jesus there," the boy said.

The surgeon continued, "I'll open your heart and check the damage."

"You'll find Jesus there," the boy said.

"When I see the damage, I will suture you back up and then think about the next step," said the surgeon.

"You will find Jesus in my heart because my Sunday school teacher told me so. She said it says so in the Bible. Besides that, our Sunday school songs say He lives there," said the boy.

The surgery took place the next day. After the surgery the surgeon began to make notes of what he found. In his mind there was no hope and no cure. The little boy would die within a matter of months.

The thought began to get to the doctor and all of a sudden the doctor shouted to God, "Why did you do this to the boy? Why can't he live a normal life?"

God spoke to the surgeon's heart and said, "The boy is a part of my flock and will always be a part of my flock. When he is with me there will be no more suffering and pain. He will have comfort and peace. One day his parents as well as you will join him and my flock will continue to grow."

The next day the surgeon went to the boy's room and sat down with the parents beside the bed.

In a moment or two, the boy opened his eyes and asked very quietly, "What did you find in my heart?"

With tears flowing down his cheeks, the surgeon said, "I found Jesus there."

Fiona Coote at the age of 14 is he youngest person in Australia to receive a new heart. But that is not her only claim to fame. She has in fact received three new hearts. Three opportunities to live. And often in our life we need more than more opportunity to live again.

HEART LIKE A JAFFA CAKE

Did you ever wonder why a Jaffa Cake is a Jaffa Cake and not a Jaffa Biscuit? Apparently HM Customs and Excise wondered the same thing, especially when cakes are VAT free and biscuits incur 17.5 percent, so given the popularity of Jaffa Cakes the government decided to recategorise the Jaffa Cake as a biscuit and lay claim to millions of pounds of McVities' money.

The matter was settled however by a VAT tribunal in a very expensive case. McVities won the case, primarily because biscuits are hard when fresh and soft when stale whereas cakes are soft when fresh and hard when stale; Jaffa Cakes, of course, fall into the latter category.

Well, our hearts are rather like a cake, made to be soft and tender, but left to their own devices they will naturally harden.

Words Do Things

One poet tells how a certain man who had performed a heroic act found it impossible to tell his friends about it for a lack of words to describe it.

But there was a witness to the event whom the poet refers to as having been "afflicted with the necessary magic of words."

He told the story, and he told it in terms that were so vivid and so moving that the poet writes: "...the words became alive and walked up and down in the hearts of his hearers."

John tells us, "In the beginning was the Word..."

When John Knox preached in the days of the Reformation in Scotland, it was said that the voice of that one man put more courage into the hearts of his hearers than 10,000 trumpets in their ears.

Words do things to people.

It's been said that in the days of the Second World War, when Britain was short on allies and weapons, that the words of the Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, as he broadcast to the nation, did things.

The phrase "hardness of heart" is used not only for God’s people’s enemies, like Pharaoh in Egypt, but also for God’s people, Israel.
In the New Testament it describes not only the scribes and Pharisees but also the disciples.

THE HEART

We say "I give you my heart..." Maybe we should say, "God, give me Your heart." Let my heart beat with the heartbeat of God...Let my heart be broken by what breaks his heart..." God is chasing you...will you come to Him?

You need a heart transplant - He wants to give you His heart! Let him wrap his loving arms around you and give you His heart.
