OUR GREATEST DESIRE

In the first Harry Potter book (and movie), Harry stumbles on a mirror in Hogwarts castle. It is the mirror of Erised. Erised, of course, is the word "desire" written backwards, as if seen in a mirror.

This magical mirror shows the one looking into it whatever they most desire. In Harry’s case, he sees his parents who died right after he was born. In Harry’s heart, his greatest desire is to see the parents he has never known.

When we look into the Perfect Mirror of the Law, we see our greatest desire. We see our failures and our shortcomings. And we see our need for a Saviour, who is Jesus Christ our Lord.
He is our greatest desire!

Do you see Him? ill. Video Michael W. Smith – “I See You!” Let’s learn from this video to see Him and not others – not an idol we have created in our minds. Let’s not look to self or something created in our image. Instead let’s see the Jesus who is described and revealed to us in the Bible.
The question: Do you see Him?
a. Daily?
b. Weekly?
c. During work?
d. In School?
e. In your home?
f. At the parties?
g. At the mall?
h. In the night?
i. In the good times?
j. In the bad times?
3. The 2nd question: Does He lead you?
a. Daily?
b. Weekly?
c. During work?
d. In School?
e. In your home?
f. At the parties?
g. At the mall?
h. In the night?
i. In the good times?
j. In the bad times?
LISTEN to the video and ask to get a fresh revelation of Jesus.
I find it interesting to note that our video challenges us to see Him. In our synoptic Gospels I also find it interesting how each author tells the story of how blind men received their sight from Jesus. How different men were healed from being blind and after Jesus touched them they were healed and able to see.

Video Clip: The Guardian - Start: Chp. 5 43:54 - Stop: 46:16
Senior Chief Randall had a choice. He could have taught the recruits about hypothermia as an abstract theory during a lecture from the comfort of a classroom. Instead, Randall chose to fill the pool with freezing water and then share the experience with his students. He wanted them to “see” and “feel” the effects of hypothermia not just hear about it from a sterile classroom.
Jesus Christ, the greatest teacher, did something very similar. He wanted to teach his disciples about serving others. But instead of just telling them he showed them. John 13:3: “Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him.” Then he said, “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant...” Just as those recruits understood hypothermia by being in the cold water, Jesus knew that we would learn best by watching Him actually serve.

Former emergency medical technicians, Kit Latura, (Stallone) happens to be on the scene and begins his rescue efforts.
