No people in history have had as many opportunities to hear the truth about God, to learn how salvation can be found by turning to Jesus Christ, than those who live in this country at the end of the 20th Century. Do you realize there are 450,000 churches in the United States. In fact, 24% of protestant congre-gations in the world are in this country. There are 600 religious radio stations, the vast majority run by evangelical Christians, who daily broadcast the message of Jesus Christ to people across the land. Christian TV, Christian publishing, Christian music recording, all communicate the Bible’s message. God has given us so many chances. But, there are so many folks who continue to reject the truth.
Contemporary Christian Music is now the hottest genre in the entire music industry according to 7/16 Newsweek. CCM has become an umbrella term for anything with faith-based lyrics, from Twila Paris’s inspirational hymns to Audio Adrenaline’s squealing feedback. It also means $747 million in record sales last year—7% of the overall sales in the American music industry. To put that in perspective: for every 10 country-music albums sold, 7 Christian CDs fly off the shelf. CCM sales were double those of U.S. Latin music last year and topped the combined numbers of Jazz, Classical and New Age. Some CCM artists have even been embraced by VH1 and MTV. Christian fans can now groove to music that’s actually hip, yet still reflects their deep-seated faith. (Foster Letter 7/10/01)
No Moral Perspective: 86% of teens believe music piracy (including copying a CD for a friend or downloading non-promotional music online for free-either) is morally acceptable or is not even a moral issue. 80% have engaged in some type of music piracy in the past 6 months. Just 8% say that such activities are morally wrong. The GMA-Barna Group study also discovered that the piracy-related views and behaviors of born-again Christian teens non-born-again youth are nearly the same. (Christian E-tiling 4/26/04)

Despite rejecting casino gambling 3 times since 1978, Florida is home to a vigorous gambling industry made up of 31 racetracks, dog tracks, and jai alai frontons; about 26 gambling boats, a state sanctioned lottery, and at least 6 casinos located on Native American reservations throughout the state. (Joni B. Hannigan, Florida Gaming Laws a Mixed Bag, Florida Baptist Witness, 3/13/2003)
Six hundred billion dollars is wagered legally in the United States each year. That’s $2,000 for every man, woman and child in the U.S. The amount of illegal wagering is likely several times as great. In 1998, Americans spent more money on legalized gambling than on recorded music, theme parks, video games, spectato...

A ‘05 CDC Study reports 47% of U.S. high school students have had sexual intercourse, vs. 54% in ’91. Yet the nation is the world leader in teen pregnancies and STDs. A Child Trends report revealed less than 30% of females and less than 50% of males consistently use condoms, and nearly 20% of females and over 10% of males reported they never do so. Recent AP research finds teens who listen to sexual lyrics start having sex sooner than those who prefer other songs. Among heavy listeners, 51% started having sex within 2 years versus 29% of those who said they listened to little or no sexually degrading music. (Christian Post 8/10/06)
