POWER OVER SATAN by Melvin Newland:  Ephesians 6:12-12

One of the great conflicts of life is the conflict over authority. "Who is in charge? Who controls what is going on?" This conflict

occurs in the home between parents & children. It occurs between students & teachers at school, & between children on the

playground. And usually it is the biggest who wins.

The same kind of struggle oftentimes takes place in marriage, too. Two people get married & when conflicts occur, the question

arises, "Who, if anybody, is really in control?"  Years ago, "The Honeymooners" was one of my favorite TV programs. I enjoyed

watching Jackie Gleason & Audrey Meadows

SOMETHING'S GOT A HOLD OF MY LIFE by Paul Berkley:  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

In 1863 the Emancipation Proclamation was proclaimed in America. The word spread from Capitol Hill down into the valleys of

Virginia, and the Carolinas, and evens into the plantations of Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama. The headlines read, 'Slavery

Legally Abolished!' However, the greater majority of slaves, in the South, went right on living as though there had been no

emancipation. They went on living like they had never been set free. In fact, when one Alabama slave was asked what he thought of

the Great Emancipator, whose proclamation had gone into effect, he replied "I don't know nothing about Abraham Lincoln except they

say he set us free. And, I don't know nothing

SPIRITUAL WARFARE by Eddie Snipes:  Ephesians 6:10-18

Most of us have heard of spiritual warfare, but what does this mean and how does it apply to our daily lives as Christians? Often

times the issue of spiritual warfare gets convoluted by sensationalism, superstition and now by the new wave of 'Jerry Springer'

style spiritual programming carried on many religious cable TV stations today. These only serve to misguide believers and drive the

world away from the true message of the gospel. Does satan hold such great power that he can distribute to his followers and use to

oppresses the Christians? My goal today is to take a no-nonsense approach to examining what the scriptures say about spiritual

warfare and how we should equip ourselves to stand in the heat of battle.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE- STAND YOUR GROUND by Chris Talton:  Ephesians 6:10-13

One of the teachers at my wife's school died on Friday. Her husband, Mr. Packard spoke at the funeral and talked about the source

of his strength. His strength was not found in his wife. (Psalm 46) I spent a lot of time in the hospital this week. They took all

the life-support off of Jim Morris on Wed. Then on Thursday, a new life came into the world - Nicholas Scott Elliott. Life changes.

Anything and everything about your life could change at a moment's notice. The only way that you can be safe is to base your source

of strength on something

LAND OF THE GIANTS by Tim George:  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in

God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,

bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

In the late 1960's there was a TV show called Land of the Giants. Seven people from earth found their spaceship caught in a warp of

some kind and ended up on a planet where everything was twelve times larger than on earth. Each week they battled giant cats,

children, and soldiers. It was a little strange but raised an interesting question. What

RESISTING THE DEVIL

D. W. Whittle tells of a man who came to Charles Finney and said: "I don't believe in the existence of a devil." "Don't you?" said

the old man. "Well, you resist him for a while, and you will believe in it."

BELIEVING IN THE DEVIL

The New York Times reported a study about the diminishing belief in the devil among Americans. Two-thirds of Americans do not

believe in the devil as a living entity. In a randomly selected survey of over 1,000 Americans, pollsters asked whether they agreed

that Satan is "not a living being, but a symbol of evil." Sixty-two percent agreed with the statement. That means nearly 149

million Americans believe that Satan has no influence but that Satan is just a symbol of evil. We should know and understand that

Satan is real and evil is real and that this is our number 1 enemy as believers in Jesus Christ.

FALLING OUT OF BED

A little boy constantly fell out of bed. No matter what his parents did, the boy couldn't sleep without rolling out of bed. An

uncle came to visit and in the middle of the night the usual thump and cry was heard. In the morning the uncle teased the boy and

asked him why he fell out so often. The little fellow thought for a moment and then said, "I don't know, unless its because I stay

too close to the place where I get in."

WHAT WE OUGHT TO DO

Peter Marshall said "We are too Christian really to enjoy sinning, and too fond of sinning really to enjoy Christianity. Most of us

know perfectly well what we ought to do; our trouble is that we do not want to do it."

HOW TO CATCH A MONKEY

Native hunters in the jungles of Africa have a clever way of trapping monkeys.  They slice a coconut in two, hollow it out, and in

one half of the shell cut a hole just big enough for a monkey's hand to pass through. Then they place an orange in the other

coconut half before fastening together the two halves of the coconut shell. Finally, they secure the coconut to a tree with a rope,

retreat into the jungle, and wait.  Sooner or later, an unsuspecting monkey swings by, smells the delicious orange, and discovers

its location inside the coconut. The monkey then slips his hand through the small hole, grasp the orange, and tries to pull it

through the hole. Of course, the orange won't come out; it's too big for the hole. To no avail the persistent monkey continues to

pull and pull, never realizing the danger he is in.

While the monkey struggles with the orange, the hunters simply stroll in and capture the monkey by throwing a net over him. As long

as the monkey keeps his fist wrapped around the orange, the monkey is trapped.  It's too bad-the poor monkey could save its own

life if it would let go of the orange. It rarely occurs to a monkey, however, that it can't have both the orange and its freedom.

That delicious orange becomes a deadly trap.

The world sets traps for you that are not unlike the monkey trap. You hear constantly that if you just have enough money, enough

stuff, enough power, enough prestige-then you'll be happy. Under that illusion people spend their whole lives thinking you must

have it all.

The call of Christianity is unlike that of the world.
