about your life will draw attention and glory to God. Your life will be so attractive to others that they will be bubbling over with curiosity: when they don’t over hear you talking badly about your supervisor at work, when you don’t seek out the juiciest gossip tidbits circulating around the office, when you suggest that they consider letting you pray with them about some difficult circumstance their facing. Our lives will stick out, not because we go around tooting our own horn, but because people see Jesus coming out of us in the way we live our lives. Living an honorable life pleases God because it brings him glory and attention.

The truth is every aspect of our lives should reveal our faith in Christ. Living to please God is every Christian’s priority, not in an attempt to earn God’s favor, but out of intense gratitude for what he’s done. Ultimately, the most pleasing thing of all to God is obedience. More than anything else God wants our obedience: more than our worship, more than our service, more than our money, more than our words.

How can we claim to know and love God if we are unwilling to obey him? God’s grace is available to cover us in our failure, but we should be careful not to abuse the gift of grace through willful disobedience. God’s grace works in cooperation with our obedience. Grace is something we experience through participation. By obeying God we are choosing to participate in the activity of his grace making us holy. Obedience is the pathway to living a life that pleases God. Let us pray.
