Text: Hebrews 12:1-2 (King James Version)

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the Throne of God."

Topic: A Great Cloud of Witnesses!

The Christian author, Paul E. Little, has said; and, I paraphrase, that witnessing for Jesus, the Christ, is a conviction that the most important thing an individual can do is to introduce someone else to Jesus, the Christ!

The great American radio broadcaster, Paul Harvey Aurandt (Born: 1918) has said, "We are no longer fishers of men; but, keepers of an empty fish tank." The early Christians were all witnesses for Jesus, the Christ, willingly and often giving their testimony to the world! The twelve Disciples all lived to testify - to witness - through the Power of the Holy Ghost (or, Holy Spirit) to the fact of the virgin birth of Jesus, the Christ; and, as eyewitnesses - to the facts of the ministry, the miracles, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ!

Many missionaries have followed that calling - down through the years - however, today, there is a wide gap between what we, as Christian true believers are called to do; and, what we as Christian true believers choose to do! The late great American jurist, author, and Christian apologetic, Samuel Greenleaf (1783 - 1853), once wrote; and, I quote: "In examining the evidence of the Christian religion, it is essential to the discovery of truth that we bring to the investigation a mind freed, as far as is possible, from existing prejudice, and open to conviction...The foundation of our religion is a basis of fact - the fact of the birth, ministry, miracles, death by the Evangelists as having actually occurred within their own personal knowledge."

Eyewitness testimony is the best evidence that can be received in a court of law - that is why the "Early Church" grew so rapidly - there were twelve eyewitnesses and plenty converts giving testimony concerning Jesus, the Christ! Today, the church appears to be in decline; and, I believe the cause is a lack of witnesses for Jesus, the Christ, by its members! We want to look and act like the world - thinking that our testimony will be better received if people like us - however, my brothers and sisters, we are soiled witnesses when we join the enemyís camp and the "Gospel of Jesus Christ" is poorly served!

In John 19:32-35 (KJV), the beloved Disciple/Apostle John tells us: "Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with Him. (v. 33) But when they came to Jesus,
