Sermon:
A Ministry of Excellence

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men

NIV - Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.

Paul tell us the same thing in Ephesians 6:7 Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever you find you hand doing, do it with all your might.

Do you think that it matters to GOD whether or not you strive for perfection or have a spirit of excellence? Do you think it matters that the choir rehearses? Or that the keyboard is tuned? Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. GOD wants you to give your all in everything you do. GOD honors your commitment to excellence in everything you do.
If you read Ruth 3:11 It will let you know that Ruth was considered to be a woman of excellence.

Because a spirit of excellence shows that your heart of that of a servant that can be used for the masterís service and you honor GOD by doing all things well. A ministry of excellence means that you have strength and character.

When we have a ministry of excellence we donít settle for less. We donít like to do things just any old kind of way.

Even when we face obstacles, difficulties and discouragement, we are still obligated to maintain a spirit of excellence.

The Bible tells us that the harvest is plenteous and the laborers are few. Harvest time is a busy time and we must work with all of our might while we have the strength to do so. Someone once said we have to make hay while itís day. The bible tells us that we must work the works of him that sent us while it is yet day because the night is coming when no man can work. Evangelist Frazier told us make sure that we donít leave earth with your work undone.

One theologian mentioned that if we are undone before our work is undone then we are undone forever.

In the old testament when GODís people bought the priest sacrifices to offer up to GOD. They didnít honor him by giving him the skinny calves or the sickly animals but they honored him by giving the first of their fruits the best of what they had. Because of Jesus Christ paying the ultimate sacrifice we no longer have to offer up animals but in the new testament GOD is saying that we should present our bodies as a living sacrifice. Just like GODís people sacrificed in the old testament we should sacrifice and give GOD our best. Which is our reasonable service. GOD wants our best he desires excellence from us.

GOD desires your excellence in school, GOD desires your excellence at work, if your in business then you have to strive for excellence in customer service, we have to strive for excellence in our relationships and most importantly GOD desires your excellence in worship.

Striving for excellence will automatically fall in line with you being blameless and pure until Christ returns. Excellence requires holiness. Itís impossible for us to have an excellent ministry and be unholy. Another word for excellent is virtue or virtuous and virtuous is defined as having moral excellence.

GOD wants us to be a good steward of what he has entrusted to us and not desiring excellence is not being a good steward. When you are faithful over a few things GOD will make you ruler over many.

Itís amazing
