A Mother’s Honor for Mother’s Day

Ephesians 6:1-3

Intro.

Today we want to honor our Mothers.

The Bible tells us to….

It is a commandment with a promise. Vs. 2

-To live a long life.

Eve was the first mother.

Gen. 3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

“Eve” means “living”

We remember our Mothers.

Today we want to honor our Mothers.

I. We Honor her because she gave us life.

A. We often forget this one little fact.

B. She brought us into this world

C. She carried us, for those 9 months.

D. She went through the pain of childbirth to bring us

into this world.

E. There is a certain amount of suffering in carrying a

child. (I wouldn’t know much about it)

G. We should give her honor for giving us life.

II. We Honor her because she gave us love.

A. She was the first one to love us.

B. She looked into those little baby eyes and fell in love

with us.

C. Her love never waned.

D. She loved us when we were unlovely.

1. Dirty face.

2. Broken dishes

3. Ruined clothes.

E. She loved us no matter what we did.

F. She loved us unconditionally.

G. In loving us, she taught us how to love.

We honor her for loving us.

III. We honor her for giving us life lessons.

A. She taught us how to tie our shoe, and count to 10.

B. She taught us ….

C. She taught us to speak (language) and to sing.

D. She taught us about the Lord and His Word.

E. She taught us how to take care of ourselves.

IV. We honor her for giving us liberty.

A. There came a day when she let us go.

B. The first day of school.

C. The first time spending the night at a friend’s house.

D. The first time we took the car out by ourselves.

E. The last time we left home….

1. To go to college

2. To go live in another city.

3. To marry and move away.

She gave us liberty.

V. We honor her for giving us a legacy.

A. Legacy – Something handed down.

B. She taught us the things that her mother taught her.

C. Story of the Ham…. (pan to small)

D. The stories of grandma, and grandpa.

E. Our clan

F. A history of family.

Conclusion.

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
