Summary: Living with God’s Blessing. This sermon is part of a series "Welcome to the Planet"

SERIES: Welcome to the Planet #4

TEXT: Genesis 2:15-20a

TITLE: Abundantly Blessed

Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Evidence is overwhelming…we have been Divinely Designed.

Then God said,

“Let us make man in our image, in our likeness…so God created man in His own image…formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into (him) the breath of Life.” - Gen. 1:26, 27, 2:7

We have been Creatively Wired.

Genesis 2:15 says,

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

From Adam…to your life and mine…we have been Strategically Placed.

That’s where we’ve been…the 1st three weeks of Welcome to the Planet.

Divinely Designed…Creatively Wired…Strategically Placed.

If you don’t believe those things…go back and get tapes from our media team and listen over and over until these life changing truths become a reality.

Better yet…read the Word again…God’s Word is true…believe it…build your life on it…that’s God’s intention.

Divinely Designed

Creatively Wired

Strategically Placed

…all of its true. And there’s more.

We get back into Genesis 2 this morning… if you want to follow along we’re on Page 2 of the Bible in front of you.

If you’ve found Genesis 2…join me in verse 15…let’s go.

Genesis 2:15

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

That was our text last Sunday…the Lord strategically placed Adam…

Verse 16…we begin to break new ground…we begin to discover the Divinely Designed – Creatively Wired – Strategically Placed man…becomes Abundantly Blessed.

Verse 16 (READ)

“And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden.”

I. Adam was blessed with abundance.

Verse 17 (Read)

“but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

II. Adam was blessed with God’s commands.

Verse 18 (Read)

“The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

III. Adam was blessed with company.

Verse 19-20a (Read)

“Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.”

IV. Adam was blessed with something important to do.

God was good to Adam.

Didn’t have to be…He wanted to be.

Love is God’s nature. To be good comes naturally.

Our God is a God who loves to bless. Loves to give. Loves to spice up existence.

God created man with the intention of blessing him. And not just blessing him….but Abundantly Blessing him.

There’s not a need in Adam’s life God didn’t fill.

-What Adam needed…God provided.

-What Adam needed most...God provided in abundance.

I’m following in the footsteps of Jesus this morning…I’ve come to bring the Good News…and there’s plenty of it. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever…He desires to bless…He’s able to bless.

He longs to bless your life with what you need the most…and He’s still able to provide in abundance.

The song was written in 1965…but the experience can be now…

“Every need He is supplying

Plenteous grace He bestows

Every day my way gets brighter

The longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows.

God created humankind with the intention of blessing abundantly.

But sometimes we don’t “feel” blessed… do we? I know I don’t always “act” blessed. Sometimes I don’t talk like I’m blessed.

Maybe you don’t have any…but I’ve got problems. Things that befuddle me…do you know what befuddled means?

It means to “confuse or perplex.”

Do you have a couple of those things floating in your life?

Sometimes I don’t “feel” blessed.

Now this is Master’s level stuff…I’m not there…I’m still trying to get to the level…but James – apparently he’s there because he wrote:

“Consider it pure joy (not just joy – but pure joy) whenever you face trials of many kinds.”

When I face trials…I don’t feel blessed. But, according to Jim…I am.

Trials can bless my life with perseverance, maturity, wisdom.

Sometimes we don’t “feel” blessed because we don’t know what to look for. The blessing is disguised.

Let’s go back to the original blueprint…Genesis.

Verse 16

“And the lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden.”

God blessed abundantly. He can do that. He possesses the resources, ability, and willingness to bless abundantly.

In fact, one time He called a preacher to tell the world to test God in this area,
