Summary: Who are we in Christ? What is our identity with Christ?

1Peter 2:9-10

I. A chosen generation

A. Who is doing the choosing?God Has choosen us Picked us out.

B. Deuteronamy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

C. Eph. 1: 3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

B. Who is being chosen? We are Generation Christ.

V. 10 We were not a people but, now are the people of God!!!

We went from a people with out God’s mercy To a people with God’s mercy.

1. We have been chosen to be separate from the rest of the world Rom:12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2. What is transformed???

II. A Royal Priesthood

A. Before the law The preist hood was the head of the household Gen.8:20 Noah

B. Under the law the priesthood was the levites

C. After the law we live in a time of grace when Jesus died for our sins the veil of the temple was torn from the top to the bottom allowing all to see inside the holy place.

D. One of the advantages of being a priest is direct communication with God. (only once a year for the high priest And even then he had to be consencrated by the blood one the right thumb, great toe and right ear)

Priest had several jobs

E. Responsible for offering sacrifices (Jesus gave the ultiment sacrifice so what can we give)

What can we offer God as a scrifice?

1. The living body. Rom 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2. how do I present my body as a living sacrifice?

A. WITNESS Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

LIVE FOR HIM Rom. 6:1-4 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? {were: or, are}

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

3. Sacrifice of praise. Heb 13:15 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. (continually)

3WAYS IN PRAYER

IN SONG AND TO OTHERS

F. The priest was also an intercessor which is usually done in prayer

We have a responsibility to the world to intercede for them in prayer if an adult tells a child to do something he is not supposed to do who is responsible the adult or the child?

Saten can use people to attack you so don’t blame the person pray for them

1Tim. 2:1-2 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; {exhort: or, desire}

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. {authority: or, eminent place}

If there was ever a time to pray for our nation it is now!

III. Holy Nation

(The Greek word for nation is eth’-nos, "where we get ethnic from" which was a term, used specifically for tribes or races that were non-Jews.)

Holy means to be set apart for God.

So we could say that we are foreigners set aside for a specific propose

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
