But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. We did not choose CHRIST, CHRIST have chosen us. (1 Peter 1:2, Ephesians 1:4)

"You didn’t choose me. I chose you."

1 Peter 1:2 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.

Ephesians 1:4 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Who chose us? CHRIST. Who's the chosen? us

It's good to hear that there's no accident in the CHRISTian life, all are planned by GOD.

B. CHRIST has appointed us to go and bear fruit

"I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit,"

John 15:8 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

Proverbs 11:30 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.

Isaiah 27:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

The time is coming when Jacob’s descendants will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with fruit!

Romans 1:13 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to visit you, but I was prevented until now. I want to work among you and see spiritual fruit, just as I have seen among other Gentiles.

CHRIST will do it thru us, no human effort, it's all automatic and spontaneous like a fruit to it's tree.

1. fruit that remains

What to do? Go and bear fruit - fruit that remains.

C. Whatever we ask the Father in CHRIST Name will be given us.

"so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name."

What's the benefit? Answered prayer

John 15:7 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

John 14:13-14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.

Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

John 16:23-24 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.

You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

Matthew 21:22 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”

It's a joy if your prayers are answered, because it gives you what you want as long as it's GOD's will.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Bearing fruit is the work of GOD, the owner of the Vine not us.
