A. GOD, the FATHER Himself took an oath

"And it was not without the taking of an oath"

Hebrews 7:21 (Amplified Bible)

7:21 For those who formerly became priests received their office without its being confirmed by the taking of an oath by God, but this One was designated and addressed and saluted with an oath, The Lord has sworn and will not regret it or change His mind, You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

GOD took an oath saying that CHRIST's Priesthood is forever and in the order of Melchizedek. Unlike any human priests, CHRIST does not die and lives forever so He's Priesthood must be based in the order of Someone who does not die as well, Himself, the Pre-Incarnate CHRIST.

Psalms 110:4 (Amplified Bible)

110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest forever, after the manner and order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 5:10 (Amplified Bible)

5:10 Being designated and recognized and saluted by God as High Priest after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek.

B. Human priests are made priests without GOD taking an oath

"[that Christ was made Priest],"

Hebrews 7:28 (Amplified Bible)

7:28 For the Law sets up men in their weakness [frail, sinful, dying human beings] as high priests, but the word of [God’s] oath, which [was spoken later] after the institution of the Law, [chooses and appoints as priest One Whose appointment is complete and permanent], a Son Who has been made perfect forever.

Human priests are described as weak, meaning frail, sinful and dying human beings.

I am a king and priest because my kingship and priesthood is based on the finished work of CHRIST.
