Summary: Ever face an iron earth and a brass heaven? The harness of time does not have to crush you... Grow and thrive in the storm.

COME INTO THE SAFE HOUSE?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

We looked recently at WHEN TROUBLE TROUBLES YOU... as a powerful lesson.

Proverbs 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind;

when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

I. HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED THAT LIFE HAS BECOME HARD? TROUBLE? ONE STORM

AFTER ANOTHER...

Deut. 28:23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is

under thee shall be iron.

A. IRON: Attracts a magnet, readily rust... heated metal to brand,

great strength, strong, INFLEXIBLE, bind fast, firm determination,

B. BRASS: brass knuckles, copper and zinc, empty, brazen, gall, COLD, HARD, ENDURING

C. HEAVEN SEEMS LIKE BRASS...

Earth under you is hard... fall really hurts...

II. THERE IS MUCH DISCUSSION ABOUT THE LAST DAYS...

WE LIVE AND WALK IN A DAY OF TROUBLE...

A.The troubled times will push to the limit...

Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for

the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

B. THE HARDNESS OF THE TIMES WILL BE SO CRUSHING THAT GOD WILL HAVE TO

CLOSE DOWN TIME...

Mark 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for

the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

III. THE DAYS OF TROUBLE WILL BE CRUSHING WILL BE CRUSHING...

YET GOD PEOPLE STAND ON A PROMISE THE HARDNESS WILL BE LIMITED...

AND WE CAN MAKE IT...

A. FEAR BECOMES A DOMAINT EMOTION OF THE LAST DAYS...

B. Everything we know will be shaken...

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming

on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

[27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

[28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your

redemption draweth nigh.

C. IT IS HIGH TIME TO LIFT YOUR HEADS AND DREAM AND EXPECT GOD'S WORD TO

COME TO IT'S FULLNESS.

Proverbs 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind;

when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

IV. MANY EXAMPLES OF BIBLICAL CHARACTERS REVEAL TROUBLE IS PART OF DAILY

LIVING...

A. THINK YE THAT YOU CAN BE EXEMPT FROM TROUBLE?

Job 5:6 Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

[7] Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

B. JOB WAS A STUDENT? JOB WAS A TEACHER...

Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

C. JOB LEARNED AND TAUGHT THIS TOO SHALL PASS...

TOUBLE IS TEMPORARY...

Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave

Job twice as much as he had before.

[11] Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his

acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted

him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and

every one an earring of gold.

[12] So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand

sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

V. WE HAVE SEASONS... TIMES OF TROUBLE

Psalm 10:1 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

A. SOLEMN DAYS: 1. TROUBLE, 2. SICKNESS, 3. DEATH, 4. JUDGMENT

Psalm 22:11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

B. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TROUBLE...

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for

the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

VI. WE ARE NOT EXEMPT... YOU CAN NOT STOP TROUBLE...

BUT THERE IS A REFUGE... THE LORD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER...

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle

shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me

about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Psalm 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Psalm 41:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
