Different types of Anointing
And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
Le 7:35
This is the portion of the anointing of Aaron, and of the anointing of his sons, out of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, in the day when he presented them to minister unto the LORD in the priest’s office;
Le 8:2
Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bullock for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread;
Le 8:10
And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them.
Le 8:12
And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.
Le 8:30
And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
Le 10:7
And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
Le 21:10
And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated * to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;
Le 21:12
Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
Nu 4:16
And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.
Nu 18:8
And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.
As believers, we too have the Priestly Anointing over our lives. However, some believers are called to specific priestly functions to the body of Messiah.
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light…” I Peter 2:9
The Priestly Anointing includes:
v Intercession- The priests of the old covenant were mediators between the Lord and men. Today Jesus is the Mediator. There is no need for another mediator or someone to represent us before the Lord pertaining to salvation. But some are called specifically to the ministry of intercession. There is a special anointing upon these servants of the Lord. They groan, feel the pain and pray deeply for fellow believers. There are times whoever that the Lord will impress upon our hearts to interceed for someone in any given minute. That is an example of the Priestly anointing.
v Preaching and Ministering- The ability to minister to others the word of the Lord, being in the prophetic or signs, involves the Priestly Anointing. In
