Summary: Do we really trust the Lord?

Jeremiah 17:4-And you, even yourself, Shall let go of your heritage which I gave you; And I will cause you to serve your enemies In the land which you do not know; For you have kindled a fire in My anger which shall burn forever.”

5-Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.

6-For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.

7-“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

8-For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17:4-The wonderful inheritance I have reserved for you will slip out of your hands, and I will send you away as captives to a foreign land. For you have kindled my anger into a roaring fire that will burn forever."

5-This is what the LORD says: "Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans and turn their hearts away from the LORD.

6-They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, on the salty flats where no one lives.

7-"But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.

8-They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.

Verse 4-We lose sometimes what God wants to bless us with or has blessed us with!

God blesses you with a new car, but you don’t make the payments….Repossession!

God blesses you with a job, but you don’t show up for work…Pink Slip!

God blesses you with a spouse, but you don’t put any effort into the marriage…Divorce!

Verse 5-“A church member was having trouble with the concept of tithing. One day he revealed his doubts to his minister: "Pastor, I just don’t see how I can give 10 percent of my income to the church when I can’t even keep on top of our bills."

The pastor replied, "John, if I promise to make up the difference in your bills if you should fall short, do you think you could try tithing for just one month?"

After a moment’s pause, John responded, "Sure, if you promise to make up any shortage, I guess I could try tithing for one month."

"Now, what do you think of that," mused the pastor. "You say you’d be willing to put your trust in a mere man like myself’ who possesses so little materially, but you couldn’t trust your Heavenly Father who owns the whole universe!" The next Sunday, John gave his tithe, and has been doing so faithfully ever since.

We say we trust Him to give us eternal life, but then we turn around and won’t trust Him to put food on our table tomorrow!

We say we trust Him to get us to heaven but then we turn around and won’t trust Him to provide shelter for today!

We trust Him to pay for our sins, but we don’t trust Him to provide the resources to pay our bills!

We trust Him to protect us on the highways, but we don’t trust Him protect our children!

Psalm 20:7-Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

You can’t put your trust in the stock market!

You can’t put your trust in economy!

You can’t put your trust in the media!

But You Can Put Your Trust In The Lord!

The reason why because they remember the name of the Lord our God!

When someone mentions someone’s name, if you know that person, you know whether you can trust them or not!

Verse 6-And Shall Not See When Good Comes.

What happens is when someone only trust in people and not God, is that people let them down and they start not trusting anyone, then God sends someone into their life that they could trust, but they don’t see it, they don’t let their guard down, to let someone get close to them…We have to have God and people in our life!

Verse 7-8-When you truly begin to trust God not matter what comes in your life (Did you notice the drought still came!) it doesn’t matter what comes, you know that God is going to see you thru it!
