Fear destroys faith
Mark 4:35
Matt. 8:23–27; Luke 8:22–25
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Our text verse for today is verse 40

I like the following Definition of fear
FEAR – is either a feeling of respect, awe towards God or an unpleasant emotion caused by a sense of danger.
We will see out of today’s Scripture reading how:
1. God’s calling on your life
2. Attack against our faith
3. Way out from fear.
1. God’s calling on your life:
V35 Jesus said ““Let us cross over to the other side.”
a) God is continually calling us to cross our own boundaries.
Same as he did Red Sea and Jordan
b) Boundaries are those things that keeps us away from God’s life of
abundance for us.
John 10:10 … Jesus came so that we may have life and life in
abundance.
c) First calling on your life was away from sin
2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Listen to Paul’s warning Acts 17:30
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all
men everywhere to repent
d) Secondly he calls you to grow up! (spiritually).
Eph 4:13-15 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ
e) Call to trust in Him in all circumstances:
Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am
God, and there is none else.
Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou,
LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee
He want you to trust Him with:
Your family, children, huge decisions everything..
f) Interesting to note that you can only cross at the Cross.
His calling always comes through faith.
2. Attack against our faith
V37 – 38 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
a) See great windstorm arose.
