Finding the Favor of God

Topic: #1049 of 1957 for Sermons on Faith: General
Scripture: Genesis 30:27
Date Added: October 2004
Audience: General Adults (31 - 49)

Let me point something out
Anytime someone found favor in the eyes of God they brought forth something

Noah- Brought forth an ark
Abraham- brought forth a nation
Moses- brought forth a people
David- brought forth a Throne
Mary- Brought forth a son

Many people want to but Mary up on a pedestal
If these other guys don’t do their part-
Mary’s nothing
First sign of the favor of God

1. You will bring forth something
A ministry, a family, an environment, etc.

Genesis 30
27And Laban said to him, "Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake."
Genesis 39
5 So it was, from the time that he had made Joseph overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field.

So many Christians beating their friends up to come church

Just love them and your favor will rub off on them

It doesn’t matter where you are or where you’re from- God’s ready to do you a favor

We look at what a blessing Joseph was- what about when he was in the well

God wants you to win> WATCH YOUR KID PLAY SPORTS> who do you root for

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

So #1 is bringing forth something

2. You’ll begin seeing favor in the world Luke 2:51-52
We can say, ‘where was Jesus’ favor when he was crucified”

HOW DID ANYBODY KNOW WHO JESUS WAS
Doors opened- people listened- HE AFFECTED THE WORLD

Because he wasn’t afraid to love people- or be loved

This verse says, we’ll also grow in wisdom-
Going through trials and heartaches are what brings wisdom,

As your wisdom increases, so does your favor
The Luckiest people are the ones most prepared

How do we prepare for favor- expect- count on it- look for it

If you’re saying, “THERE IS NO WAY OUT”
God says, “THERE IS NOW”- come to me all who are weak and heavy laden
#2- FIND FAVOR IN THE WORLD

3. Almost everything you touch prospers- Psalm 30:1-5
Favor is for life- it never goes away
“Well I only got a little bit” That’s all you need- lasts forever

Everything you touch is not going to be a success- by world standards

But is it prospering- people better, lives better, kids better

2 Chronicles 31
20Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before the LORD his God. 21And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.

The week before we moved back over here

I was scared- terrified- “dreams of me preaching in a speedo”

Then you begin to talk-

The words out of your mouth- the faith in your heart

I began to realize- I can’t fail- THESE PEOPLE ARE FAVORED

THE THINGS WE HAVE TOUCHED TOGETHER HAS PROSPERED

I said, “I CAN’T FAIL” not because of me or who I am

But because of YOU- AND THE FAVOR OF GOD ON your LIFE

That’s why this morning- if you’re sitting there going

Nothing goes right for me- LET ME TELL YOU

YOU HAVE A PROMISE FROM ALMIGHTY GOD

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God
