FOUR IMPORTANT BIBLE SOUNDS

Intro: In this study Paul gives us four important Bible “sounds” which we need to notice, namely: SOUND – DOCTRINE, FAITH, MIND, and SPEECH. In these cases the word “sound” is not something we hear, but is an adjective used to describe that which is “whole, healthy, true, without error, not defective.”

1. SOUND DOCTRINE IS IMPORTANT (Tit 1:9)
A. From God, not man (John 7:16)
B. Not a strange doctrine (Rom 16:17)
C. Related with good testimony (2 John 9)

2. SOUND FAITH IS IMPORTANT (Tit 1:13)
A. Comes from hearing God’s word (Rom 10:17)
B. Gives spiritual insight (Heb 11:27).
C. Affects consequences in our life (Matt 9:29)

3. SOUND MIND IS IMPORTANT (2 Tim 1:7)
A. Comes from God, not the world (cf. 2 Cor 4:4)
B. The mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16; Phil 2:5)
C. Renewed mind (Rom. 12:2).

4. SOUND SPEECH IS IMPORTANT (2 Tim 1:13)
A. Doesn’t use mouth for evil (Psa 34:13)
B. Ministers to hearers (Eph 4:29)
C. Speaks the truth in love (Eph 4:15)

Conclusion: The world needs people who are sound in – DOCTRINE, FAITH, MIND and SPEECH! Sound doctrine rightly teaches this Book; sound faith believes the doctrines of this Book; sound mind thinks like Christ; and sound speech edifies hearers. These four things make up sound behavior. Is that where God finds you today? If not, you need to get things right!
