Giving God Your Time
(Romans 13:11-14)
What Happened to Time
When as a child I laughed and wept, time crept.
When as a youth I dreamed and talked, time walked.
When I became a full-grown man, time ran.
And later as I older grew, time flew.
When I pass on, time is gone.
Alarm clock keeps us on time.
Wake up calls at Hotels, etc…
Time keeps marching on!
Romans 13:11-14 (NKJV) 11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
1.) Time to WAKE UP! (verse 11)
Ephesians 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the
light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: “ Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
2.) Time is passing: "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here." (verse 12)
3.) Time to WALK IN HONESTY. (verse 13)
1 Kings 2:3-4 (NKJV) 3 keep the charge of the LORD your God: to walk in His ways, to
keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in
the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn; 4 that the
LORD may fulfill His word which He spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons take heed
to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul,’
4.) Time to PUT ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. (verse 14)
Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in
Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
CONCLUSION:
The past is behind us, the future is before us. How shall we live in the present?
1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NKJV) 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch & be sober.
