Sermon:
GODíS AMAZING GRACE

Today I want to talk to you about ďGods Amazing GraceĒ. For the last few weeks we have been looking Godís Glorious Grace. Today we are going to conclude the series.

The Bible says we are saved by grace. The only way to get to heaven is through the doorway of Grace. If youíre going to get to heaven thatís the only way youíre going to get there. You canít earn it, you canít work for it, you canít buy it. Itís just by Godís grace. The Bible says:

ďFor by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.Ē Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

If you could work your way to heaven Ė can you imagine how unpleasant heaven would be? Everyone there would be bragging about how they got there. They would go on and on Ė on how good they were and about how much they did down here on earth to earn their salvation. But the Bible says that no one is saved by their good works. No one earns their salvation Ė no one works their way into heaven. We are all simply saved by Godís grace.

Not only are we saved by Godís grace Ė but the Bible tells us that we are forgiven by Godís grace. The Bible says:

ďIf we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.Ē 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

Go ahead and circle the word ďHeĒ. Notice that this verse puts an emphasis on God. If we confess our sins ďGodĒ is faithful Ė ďGodĒ is just Ė ďGodĒ will forgive our sins Ė ďGodĒ will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I like the way Godís Word translations this verse. It says:

ďGod is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, He forgives them and cleanses us from everything weíve done wrong.Ē 1 John 1:9 (GW)

Why does God forgive us? Because God is gracious Ė thatís why. It is His nature to be forgiving.

But that is not all. It is by Godís grace that we are sustained. The Bible tells us in the book of Philippians:

ďI am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.Ē Philippians 1:6 (HCSB)

God will keep working in your life Ė until He has completed His work in you. He will not leave you Ė or forsake you. He will stick by you through thick or thin. He will sustain you.

Then the Bible also teaches that we are healed by Godís grace. He heals our broken hearts and binds up our wounds. The Bible says:

ďHe (God) heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.Ē Psalms 147:3 (NKJV)

God takes that which is bent and straightens it out. The takes that which is shattered to pieces puts it back together. He takes that which is broken and fixes it. God is in the healing business and He heals us by His grace.

In the process of healing us Ė God restores us. David prayed in Psalm fifty-one:

ďCreate in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take
