Summary: God loved you so much he sent His only Son.

Jeremiah 31:31

God is telling the people how he is going to clean up the mess they have made. God’s plan from the beginning of time was to have a relationship with us; His creation. Man for one reason or another has always messed it up. Like the nation Israel we have fallen short of God’s glory and have separated ourselves from Him. ROM. 3:23

God has given us everything of Himself. 100% commitment. Creation demonstrates this for us. The relationship that was planned was one of dependence. Man chose to disobey. Man chose to live independent of God. Yet God did not give up on us.

GEN. 12 God renewed the promise with Abram.

GE 12:2 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”

Throughout the Old Testament you will see a familiar pattern. Two things come up repeatedly. Gods commitment to man, and man’s failure.

Finally the time has come when God will bring a new covenant into the scene. A covenant that will emphasize Gods’ love. His Love is the motivation in writing the new covenant, our love for God is the motivation for what we do for Him. We serve God not because of laws, but because we love Him.

God now has a people of His own, the Church, all those who have accepted His salvation and Lordship--totally committed to Him and having all the character, power and authority of Christ.

Now let us look at Romans 6:23

RO 6:21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

What benefit did you have when you would have nothing to do with God?

RO 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

You have been set free from sin by giving yourselves completely to God. He now owns you, paid for you with the blood of Jesus.

RO 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in n Christ Jesus our Lord.

The gift of God – His Love – His Son – His Mercy, is eternal life.

Revelation 21:3

REV 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

REV 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

REV 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

REV 21:6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

REV 21:7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

All of this began in a little dark, dirty manger in Bethlehem. God’s Son came to earth. To save us from ourselves.
