GRATEFUL FOR THE PAST AND CONFIDENT ABOUT THE FUTURE

1. WE MUST REMEMBER WITH GRATITUDE EVERYTHING THAT THE LORD HAS DONE FOR US. WE MUST REALISE HOW FAR THE LORD HAS BROUGHT US .WE MUST REMEMBER WITH HUMILITY OUR BEGINNINGS LIKE KING DAVID DID. WE ARE PROTECTED BY HIS MERCY. WE MUST REALISE ALL THE EVIL THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO US IF THE LORD HAD NOT BEEN WITH US.

" Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far has the LORD helped us."

2 SAMUEL 7:18

" Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23

" Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "

PSALM 103

" Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;

he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;

the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-

with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.

Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.

Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul."

PSALM 124

" If the LORD had not been on our side—let Israel say-

if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,

when their anger flared against us,they would have swallowed us alive;

the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us,

the raging waters would have swept us away.

Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.

We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."

2. THE LORD WILL ANSWER OUR PRAYERS IN THE TIME OF DISTRESS AND HELP US . HE WILL REMEMBER ALL OUR OFFERINGS AND GRANT THE DESIRES OF OUR HEART. HE WILL GRANT US VICTORY IN ALL OUR BATTLES.

" May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Selah

We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call! "
