Summary: We are never broken so bad that God cannot fix us.

Hope for Broken People

March 9, 2014 Morning Service

Immanuel Baptist Church, Wagoner, OK

Rick Boyne

Message Point: We are never broken so bad that God cannot fix us.

Focus Passage: John 8:2-11

Supplemental Passage: Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

Introduction: We are often too quick to condemn, rather than quick to provide hope, love, and Jesus!

I. Caught in sin

a. In the very act of adultery

b. No opportunity to plead “not guilty”

c. She was full of shame

II. Condemned to die

a. The law prescribed stoning as punishment

b. The woman was afraid

c. The crowd was testing Jesus’ teaching and authority

III. Cleared by Jesus

a. Jesus brought up something that had never been said before

b. All who condemned her left

c. Jesus told her to go and sin no more

Invitation: IF we are in Jesus, there is no condemnation. We are forgiven. Yet, with that freedom comes responsibility; the responsibility to life a holy life – to repent. Jesus, too, rescues US from the condemnation of death. He gives us forgiveness, life, and hope – hope for a better, cleaner life.
