Household Salvation


Every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb.

Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.”
—2 Kings 4:3 NKJV

God has a plan for your family and neighbors. Your salvation is just the beginning of a great flood of grace that will sweep them into the kingdom.

1. The gospel is too big for you alone.

You have a calling to bring salvation to those who need help.

The little girl who told Naaman about Elisha is an example of someone who did just that (2 Kings 5).

2. Your family and neighbors respond to “T3.”

Time—spending quality and quantity time with them

Talent—using your skills in areas they need help in

Treasure—giving a financial blessing to them as a seed for harvest

3. You determine the size of your harvest by your faith.

In 2 Kings 4, the woman’s faith was the only limitation on her miracle. The more empty vessels she gathered, the greater the miracle she would experience.

People are the empty vessels in your life. They are dry, wasted, and tossed aside. They desperately need fresh oil. You must develop a yearning for the empty vessels to be filled.

The woman’s miracle started with her oil.

1. The oil represents the Holy Spirit in your life.

We minimize the power of the Spirit within us. He is all you need to work mighty miracles.

If you are dry and empty spiritually, you have nothing with which to fill someone else’s vessel.

Ministry is the process of being poured out, emptying and releasing the Holy Spirit to others.

2. There are four main ways the Holy Spirit pours out of you into others.

Signs and wonders—A direct answer to prayer for a person’s body, finances, marriage, or family is the Holy Spirit’s “calling card” for Jesus.

Love and service—T3 is all about love. The old nature loves to be self-centered, consuming all your time and money, but the Holy Spirit gives you a spirit of sacrifice and service, causing you to lavish your precious time and treasure on others.

Prayer in the Spirit—You can target individuals bound by the enemy, interceding for them in the Spirit in your personal prayer time.

The Word—The Holy Spirit may give you a particular Scripture as a sword to pierce their conscience.

3. Here is the application to your life.

Pray for your three—Fervent, daily, consistent prayer for your three family members who need the Lord will produce results. Jesus put prayer, fasting, and giving together (Matthew 6), so doing all three at once in a focused way brings great results.

Refresh your oil supply—Check your oil! If you are dry, defeated, broke, busted, and disgusted, you will not multiply yourself. Rise in the morning to worship and read Scripture, and stay filled with the Spirit all day long by meditating on the Scriptures and listening to worship music as much as possible (Eph. 5:18–19).

Look for opportunities—Set the stage for this by T3. Then look for specific events to invite others to, specific problems to help with, and God-given
