B. The Adoration for the Scriptures - II Peter 1:15-21
1. We have a Sure Word -- vs. 19a
2. We have a Shining Word -- vs. 19b

C. The Activities of Satan - II Peter 2:1-22
1. As God works in this world to redeem sinners out of the world, so Satan works to destroy the works of God.
2. God has his teachers, and the Devil has his.
3. God has bestowed gifts upon believers, while Satan has bestowed his gifts upon the unbelievers.
4. Keep in mind when you read verse 21 and 22 of chapter 2 that Peter is speaking of false teachers, and not
saints who have lost their salvation.
D. The Anticipation of the Saints - II Peter 3:1-18

I JOHN
I. SURVEY
A. Writer: The Apostle John
B. Date: Between 90 and 100 A.D.
C. Purpose: To exhort and demonstrate the fellowship one can have with the Lord Jesus Christ, and to point
sinners to Him who gives eternal life.
D. Theme: Fellowship with God
E. Key Verse: “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may
know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in hsi son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and
eternal life.” I John 5:20
F. Attraction: This book is not written to certain people, or certain churches, but to all those who have like faith in
God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
II JOHN
I. SURVEY
A. Writer: The Apostle John
B. Date: Between 90 and 100 A.D.
C. Purpose: As I John was written that we might know Christ, II John was written that we might know how to
deal with heretics.
D. Key Verse: “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye
have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.” II John 6
E. Attraction: This is the only book of the Bible which is addressed to a lady. It is a personal letter. Tradition says
that the lady is Martha of Bethany, and her sister who is mentioned is Mary.
III JOHN
I. SURVEY
A. Writer: The Apostle John
B. Date: Between 90 and 100 A.D.
C. Purpose: To warn God’s people of those in the local assembly who might try to take the place of the pastor in
ruling over the flock.
D. Key Verse: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” III John 4
E. Attraction: This is another personal letter of this beloved apostle to one whom he loved in the Lord, a man
named Gaius.

B. The Disappointing Diotrephes - vs. 9-11
C. The Determined Demetrius - vs. 12-14
