Summary: This is just a message on the way it used to be. A sermon to make us think how it was and can we get back there.

I Like the Old Paths

Jer. 6:16 "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."

THE DIFFERENCE 50 YEARS MAKES

Add in Old aying of yester year in here) HOW SAD BUT TRUE!

1)I like the old paths, when...

Moms were at home, Dads were at work. Brothers were in the army, & Sisters got married BEFORE having children!

1 OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS IN America Our moms are working a job.

They are not at home raising our children. The government is doing that for us.

I like the old paths, when...

Crime did not pay; hard work did; & people knew the difference.

I like the old paths, when...

Moms could cook; Dads would work; & the Children would be quiet.

Now days we can’t teach our young girls to the jobs of home. Because the moms are not there to do it

I like the old paths, when...

Husbands were loving (faithful to their wives) What ever happened to Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Wives were submissive (not try to be the boss) What ever happened to Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. The children were polite (not rebellious). What ever happened to Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. I like the old paths, when...

Women wore the jewelry; & Men wore the pants. Harlots wore the paint; & the children wore the stripes!

(AT THE MALL) (Young men with their pants baggy & hanging down past their) (well you know)

(THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHRISTAIN WOMEN & THE WOMEN OF THE WORLD)

I like the old paths, when...

Women looked like ladies; & Men looked like gentlemen. The children looked decent.

(What happened to the days when young men wore shirt & tie & nice slacks to church? The young ladies had dresses.

I like the old paths, when...

People loved the truth, & hated a lie They came to church to get IN, & not to get OUT!

(The people wanted to hear the truth of God’s word or in ALL matters)

(IT WAS THE NORMAL THING TO GO TO CHURCH)

(MY TOE HURT & CAN’T MAKE IT)

I like the old paths, when...

Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful Shouting sounded normal; & crying sounded often.

(No rock & roll show)

The sermon the man of God preached stepped on toes. The people accepted it, & did something about it

(Men would jump & shout. The women would raise their hankies in the air)

(The altars full of Christians getting right with god)

(God seeing their tears & saying I have got do something)

I like the old paths, when...

Cursing was wicked; Drinking was evil; & divorce was unthinkable

(EVEN OUR CHRISTAIN SLAG WORDS THAT WE USE INSTEAD)

I like the old paths, when...

The flag was honored; America was beautiful; and God was welcomed!

(NOW WE ARE KICKING GOD OUT)

I like the old paths, when...

We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school; & preached on the courthouse steps.

I like the old paths, when...

To be called an American was worth dying for; & to be called a Christian was worth living for;

I like the old paths, when...

Cowards were shot; Deserters were hung; & criminals were sent to prison, not Washington!

I like the old paths, when...

Sex was a dirty word; Homo was an unheard of word, & abortion was an illegal word.

(IT’S STILL MURDER)

I like the old paths, when...

Preachers preached because they had a message; Christians shouted because they had the VICTORY!

I like the old paths, when...

Preachers preached from the Bible Singers sung from the heart (NOT TO BE SEEN) Sinners repented & got SAVED!

(EVERY SERVICE SOMEONE WAS GETTING SAVED)

(THURSDAY NIGHT PEOPLE WERE GETTING SAVED)

(ON THE BUS ROUTES PEOPLE WERE GETTING SAVED) (At the restaurants people were getting saved)

(PARENTS GETTING SAVED BECAUSE THEIR CHILDREN GOT SAVED IN SUNDAY SCHOOL & SAW A CHANGE & THEY WANTED THAT)

I like the old paths, when...

A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life; & Joining the church meant attending.

(My Life changed when I got saved)

(I went every where telling people what happened to me)

(No more booze, no more drugs, no more running around, no more cursing, no more hating)

I like the old paths, when...

Being a preacher meant you were called of God; & being a deacon meant you would serve the church;

(PREACHER WOULD PREACH THUS SAITH THE LORD THY GOD)
