There are two things that I am not only convinced of but I am also disturbed about—it is the misnomer, the misinterpretation, and the misinformation that is now in the Kingdom World when it comes to the reality of worship. There is grave concern in this day in time for understanding and even for the misunderstanding of what worship really means and what worship is really all about. Now in this day and time of praise and worship music; in this day in time of cutting edge culture—we have so dipped into the culture of society and brought into the church that which society is pleased with and applauded by that, as a consequence, we have now become twisted and misinformed about what worship really is.

I think I really need to tell you that worship really has nothing to do with the music of a choir. Worship has nothing to do with the syncopation of the beat, the rhythm; how fast or slow a song is; it has nothing to do with the genre and the category of music; worship has nothing to do with denominations, affiliations; it is not relegated or boxed in to certain types of churches or certain denominations; worship is not branded only for a certain kind of people; worship is not simply for the unintelligent or the uneducated or the less bouji or the less society-defined people; if we are honest with ourselves today—worship really has nothing to do with our gathering in a building because properly understood and defined—worship is not an event, worship is an encounter!!!

You don’t COME to worship; you DO worship. You come to a building—but being in a building doesn’t make worship; WORSHIP makes the BUILDING a SANCTUARY. The reality is that we call this building a sanctuary; but you can do anything in here that you can do in a coliseum.

Because what makes worship are not the ornate features; what makes worship is not this desk or the organ which fills this room with a sense of churchness; what makes worship is not the fact that we have carpet or the fact that we have lights, a sound system and electricity.

But what makes worship is when I set the atmosphere of my spirit properly to allow God to manifest His presence in such a way that His glory fills the place and things begin to happen.

Worship is not what you do on Sunday morning. Come with me to the Book of Chronicles where Jehosphaphat is preparing to fight for battle. And the Bible says that when he gets the word from God about going out against the armies, notice if you will that he is not given the instruction to put military people in front to fight military people coming against them; he is given instruction to put a choir in front. Now don’t misunderstand me—that doesn’t suggest that we are to put the praise team or the choir in front of us. But the suggestion is that PUT PEOPLE IN FRONT WHO ARE TRAINED IN WORSHIP. Because the only way to defeat armies that are coming against you are not to have weapons that look like theirs—because ‘the weapons of our warfare are not carnal…they are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds’. And if you really want to battle the enemy, you need to learn how to worship. Because WORSHIP IS YOUR FRONT LINE WEAPON IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE ENEMY IN YOUR LIFE.

No…you don’t fight the enemy with books/going to conferences/because you come to church/because you memorized a few scripture verses/because you are wearing a cross around
