Summary: I continue messages on our trip to Israel. Last time we looked at Jeremiah who suffered for preaching the Word. Today the Hebrews crossed the Jordan and erected an altar in Gilgal about 3 miles from Jericho. Elijah did the same at Mt. Carmel where we visited. What makes an altar important?

IT IS TIME TO REPAIR ALL BROKEN ALTARS

1. Joshua 4:1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying, 2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man, 3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night. 6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? 7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel forever..

2. 1 Kings 18 30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down. 31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.” 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it…”

INTRODUCTION: REPAIRING THE BROKEN ALTAR

I Continue My Expansion On The Trip To Israel. Last time we looked at Jeremiah who suffered for preaching the Word. Today let me tell of another experience. We were in the region of Jericho and the guide took us to Gilgal where they believed the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land. This is not far from Jericho. Then we then realized we were standing in the midst of an ancient altar near the base of a mountain in about 1406 BC. Joshua 4 tells of how God commanded Israel to erect the altar of 12 stones from the flooded Jordan River as memorial.

WHAT IS AN ALTAR?

1. An Altar Is A Place Of Prayer Or Worship Of God Or Gods. It is a contact place with the spirit or spiritual world.

2. It Is A Place Of Spiritual Sacrifice Or Of Making Of Covenants. There is always power from the altar of God or from the altar of Devil. Every altar operates with powers to control the area and the people that surround it. Those who stand in Satanic altars have power to control those who live near them - they are responsible for controlling alcohol bars, prostitutions, drugs, divorces , sickness and all other evil things in that area. For Satan to work and fulfill his mission here in earth/city or village there must be an altar where he performs those evil things. Example: Near The Merrimack River

3. The Altar Is Where The Physical Contacts The Spiritual That Is The Place Where Human Beings Go To Contact Either God Or Demons. But the altar we are talking about is the altar of the Lord. Whether it is God or demons that you want to contact, you are expected to prepare a place, where the two of you can meet. Building of the altar is your own responsibility.

4. The Power Of A Ministry Is Determined By Which Altar it Operates & Serves. The strongest and mighty men of God are those who operate and serve in Holy Altars. Those altars are destructive to the kingdom of darkness & destroys every other altars around them. 1 Timothy 4: 1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron. Exodus 4: The Altars in Egypt that defied God.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ALTARS!

1. Godly Altars: An altar of prayer, intercession, worship, thanksgiving, tithing, sacrificial giving unto God and His kingdom.

2. Satanic Altars: Also an altar of prayer, intercession, worship, thanksgiving, tithing, sacrificial giving unto God and His kingdom.

GODLY OR SATANIC ALTARS CAN BE:

1. A Personal Altar: Your own personal quite time with the Lord.(Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.)

2. A Family Altar: For you and your family praying together. ( Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.)
