VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. JESUS sanctified us making us holy

"For both He Who sanctifies [making men holy]"

Hebrews 10:10 (Amplified Bible)

10:10 And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).

Hebrews 10:14 (Amplified Bible)

10:14 For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy.

John 17:19 (Amplified Bible)

17:19 And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the One who sanctified us because of His finished work on the cross of Calvary.

B. We who are sanctified by JESUS

"and those who are sanctified all have one [Father]."

Hebrews 2:14 (Amplified Bible)

2:14 Since, therefore, [these His] children share in flesh and blood [in the physical nature of human beings], He [Himself] in a similar manner partook of the same [nature], that by [going through] death He might bring to nought and make of no effect him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—

Acts 17:26 (Amplified Bible)

17:26 And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),

Galatians 4:4 (Amplified Bible)

4:4 But when the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to [the regulations of] the Law,

We are the ones who are sanctified by the LORD JESUS. Without the LORD JESUS, we are nothing. We live thru this Life because of His Life not ours who are already long dead on the cross because of crucifixion 2,000 years ago.

C. JESUS is not ashamed to call us brethren

"For this reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren;"

What privelege, What Love we have! What honor! That we should be called CHRIST's brothers, and CHRIST called us brothers. It's one thing to call JESUS our Brother, but it's another thing for Himself to recognize and honor us as His brothers and that's who we are.

Matthew 12:48-50 (Amplified Bible)

12:48 But He replied to the man who told Him, Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?

12:49 And stretching out His hand toward [not only the twelve disciples but all] His adherents, He said, Here are My mother and My brothers.

12:50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother!

John 20:17 (Amplified Bible)

20:17 Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me [do not hold Me], for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brethren and tell them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

His Resurrection from the dead, made us brothers with JESUS, before while we're still His enemies, GOD called us friends, but now He called us brothers, together with Him as His family.

Romans 8:29 (Amplified Bible)

8:29 For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

IX. CONCLUSION:

JESUS calls us brothers.

1 John 3:1 (Amplified Bible)

3:1 SEE WHAT [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.
