Jesus the evangelist!

(7)

Sermon shared by Jose Gomez Sr

October 2002
Summary: Part 2 of a two part series.
Audience: Believer adults
Sermon:
* Acts 10:38

Did you know that the greatest evangelist that ever lived on the face of this earth was Jesus Christ. Every where that Jesus went, He impacted people with His words. The fact is that He went about doing good and healing the oppressed, but He also changed the lives of the people that He met.

There is not one single person that Jesus spoke to in the Bible that their lives were not impacted. If we follow His example, we to will impact the lives of the people that we meet. We are going to look at several examples of how Jesus ministered to the lost.

------------------------------------------------------------

Example #1] John 4:3-14. This was definitely rocky soil, some obstacles needed to be removed before the seed could grow;

* The first thing is that she thought herself not worthy because of what she had been told;

(V.9),"YOU ARE A JEW AND I AM A SAMARITAN WOMAN. HOW CAN YOU ASK ME FOR A DRINK WHEN JEWS AND SAMARITANS WONT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER".Otherwords,(We cant use the same cup).

* The second thing is that her theology was all messed up. She insinuated that Jacob was better than Jesus. Other words what can you give me that my believes cant?

* The third thing is that she was looking for love in the wrong places. Five relationships and the relationship that she was in at the moment wasnt any better because she was running around with some one elses husband.(Look at v.16).

* Notice that Jesus never ridiculed her but offered the solution. He simply said "YOU NEED LIVING WATER". *

*JESUS DIDNT WAIST ANY TIME. He took advantage of the moment and initiated the conversation.

* Most often the external condition is not the real issue. The thirst wasnˇ¦t the real issue. The fact is that she was spiritually dry because of her spiritual condition before God. SHE WAS LIVING IN SIN AND PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ANY BETTER.

* Notice that this wasnt a planned encounter. But He was compelled to go there (V.14, SHE MUST NEEDS TO GO THRU SAMARIAh¨).

* The word must (edei) means necessity, compulsion or destiny.

* Why should we go? Because there is a necesity.

*Those who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit will feel compelled to go.

OUR DESTINY IS TO GO.

* Jesus was driven to go through Samaria for the sake of His mission as we are sometimes. (HAVE YOU EVER ASKED YOURSELF,WHY AM I HERE?)

*Acts 1;8, "And you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth". * Mat.22:9, "Go ye therefore into yhe highways and as many as you find, tell them to come".

Example #2) Mathew 8:1-4. BY THE WAYSIDE SOIL. This man was constantly stepped on by society (He was a leper).

*Because he was a leper, the law had restrictions on him;

1. Leprosy was considered a type of sin. Like aids is today.He was considered the most unclean and defiled person.

2. He
