Text: Philippians 2:12-16

Textual Idea: Paul encourages the Philippians to continue in well doing so that he can be glad in the day of judgment.

Sermon Idea: Be encouraged to continue in well doing because it is going to be worth it.

I. Keep On Being Obedient
a. Not based on fear of man
b. Illustrations of wrong motivations
c. Fear God and Recognize Your Dependence
d. Cooperate with God and bring Him pleasure
II. Keep On Having the Right Attitude
a. Don’t grumble or argue
i. Contrast bringing pleasure to God vs. grumble
b. More to being pure than not being an addict
c. The world is watching you
d. Be thankful and work to get along
III. Keep On Keepin’ On Until Christ Returns
a. Possible for some of the Philippians not to make it
b. Christian life compared with a race
c. Darkest hour just before dawn
d. It’s gonna be worth it!

Visualization: I wouldn’t take nothin’ for my journey now…
Action: Refuse to give up! Resist temptation. Be thankful. Be gentle.

Appeal: Commit to keep on keepin’ on. Ask the Lord to empower you to keep your commitment. If you haven’t started the journey today is the day of salvation.
