Summary: Understanding the basic belief and teaching of Christ.

A. INTRODUCTION: ONCE UPON A TIME A PERSON WAS LOST IN SPACE . . .”

He came upon the largest pile of bricks ever known. Where did it come from? Why is it here? What should he do?

1. Study it – a scientist.

2. Worship it – an heathen idol maker.

3. Ignore it – skeptic.

4. Explain it away – an evolutionist.

5. Get everything possible from it – a typical American.

6. Look for its creator – a true believer.

B. WHAT DOES A PILE OF BRICK TEACH US?

“God will punish every person on this earth who lives in sin and rebellion against Him, because when they see the created universe of earth and the heavens (i.e., a pile of bricks), they won’t worship Him as its creator, nor will they glorify Him for His immense power and choice to create the universe as it is. So God allows them to be blinded and shut up to their own thoughts” (Rom. 1:18-21, ELT).

1. A pile of bricks teaches us the existence of a brick maker, the logical argument of cause and effect.

2. Limitless number of atoms teaches us an atom-maker.

Atoms - the Building Blocks of the Universe

a. The makeup of earth, extremely dense.

b. The makeup of water, less dense.

c. The makeup of air and fire, i.e., atmosphere. “Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’ Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so” (Gen. 1:6-7).

d. Albert Einstein said atoms are energy.

3. An immense number of bricks teach us an immense God.

How Big is the Universe?

a. One and a third million earths fit into a hollow sun.

b. 60 million suns fit into Antares.

c. 110 million Antares’ fit into Hercules.

d. 700 million Hercules’ fit into Epsilon.

e. The mind can’t grasp its size.

f. The naked eye sees only 3000 stars.

g. The Hale telescope sees 50 billion galaxies each with 200 million stars in each.

h. The mind can’t grasp this number.

4. A universe of reproducing energy teaches us an alive God.

Life is the existence of energy

5. A universe held together by laws, teaches us an orderly God who operates by principles and laws, not His whims.

If there are laws followed by science, there must be a law-giver

6. Since something can’t come out of nothing, and nothing doesn’t have the power to make something; then there is a point of time when everything began. That teaches us God began it all. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. 1:1).

7. Therefore what determined the time when something would come out of nothing? God has the power of choice, i.e., God possesses personhood or personality.

a. Intellect, God can think about what He wants to make, how He will make it, where He will make it, and when.

b. Emotions, God puts beauty or feelings into His bricks.

c. Will, God exercised a choice to make bricks.

C. WHEN BRICKS ARE ARRANGED INTO A BEAUTIFUL WALL

1. The earth’s design was created by a designer.

2. The earth’s beauty was created by someone beautiful.

3. The design was decided before beginning.

4. The beautiful design can be messed up by man.

5. The designer must have power to create His creations.

D. SO HOW MUST I REACT?

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the stars are the result of His handiwork. The light of each day tells us of His existence, the blackness of night tells us to fear His anger” (Ps. 14:1-2, ELT).

1. Fear the powerful God of creation, and seek to please Him, or else.

2. Glorify the Creator God for who He is, and what He does.

3. We are told in His book, “God loves us and has a wonderful plan for our life.”

BASIC BELIEFS

1. Why I believe in God.

2. Why I am a Trinitarian.

3. Why I believe Jesus is God.

4. Why I believe the authority of Scriptures.

5. Why Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord,

I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
