Summary: This is the 7th sermon in the series "Momma Says..."

Series: Momma Says... (James)[#7]

LET’S GET DOWN TO THE NITTY-GRITTY

James 4:1-12

Introduction:

I would like start off this morning by reminding you of what our Church’s vision is:

1.Lead the lost to Jesus Christ!

2.The people of this Church live lives in the world that lead the lost to Jesus Christ!

3.The people of this Church participate in all of the activities of the church for these purposes:

1) To worship Jesus Christ,

2) To grow stronger in Christ, and

3) To take our faith beyond the walls of this church so that lost people are led to Christ.

IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!

Just as I did last week, I want to ask you a few questions.

1.Why can’t we just get along?

2.How can we get along?

3.When are we going to get along?

As momma says, "Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty".

1.Why can’t we just get along?

James 4:1-6

Why do Christian people fight with one another?

*They want their way. They are being spoiled brats.

*They want something that God will not give them.

*They forget Who they belong to.

2.How can we get along?

James 4:7-10

In order for us to get along we must let God work His will in our lives. How do we do that?

*Resist the Devil- tell him no; and draw near to God- tell Him yes.

*Get serious about who you are going to serve. As Joshua said, "Choose this day who you are going to serve".

*Humble yourself before God, pray, seek God, and turn from your sinfulness.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (Message)

3.When are we going to get along?

James 4:11-12

I would like for the answer to be, "We are going to start right now"; but you can’t just snap your fingers and everything is o.k. You must decide for yourself if you are willing to do your part.

Here is your part:

*Don’t worry about what others are doing. Focus on you. The only person that you can change is yourself.

*Remember who and what you hurt when you don’t mind your own business. It’s God’s Word and God that takes a beating when we treat each other harshly.

*Remember who is in charge. This is God’s Church, we are part of God’s family, and we belong to God.

Conclusion:

IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS!
