Summary: Service to God should not be done to be seen

I. Promises are more important than priorities

-Priority: An order of preference based on urgency, importance, or merit.

-Promise: A declaration which gives to the person to whom it is made a right to expect its performance.

II. Purposes are more important than personalities

-Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

III. Service is always superior than success

-Success: to see it, to count it, to report it, to brag about it.

IV. Success is linked to seasons

-Galatians 6:9 and let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

-Psalm 1

-Hebrews 12: 1, 2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

V. Service is linked to your love for the Shepherd

-John 21:15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

-John 14:23 Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

-John 14:31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
