Summary: O LORD my Rock

Psalm 28 O LORD my Rock

I. Prayer’s Desperation (1-2)

David’s Focus - 1 Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock.

David knew the Lord was his only host, only hope and only help.

David’s Fear -1 be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me,

I become like them that go down into the pit.

Fear Of Denial - 1 be not silent to me:

Disapproval - lest, if thou be silent to me,

Dismissal - I become like them that go down into the pit.

David feared silence from the Lord much more than his enemies.

Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

David’s Fervency - 2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

Prayer's Entreaty - Hear the voice of my supplications

Prayer's Intensity - when I cry unto thee,

Prayer's Integrity - when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

II. Prayer’s Determination (3-5) - David Sought:

A. Separation - 3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

From the Wicked, the Willful, the Wayward.

B. Satisfaction - 4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

C. Subjugation - 5 Because they regard not the works of the Lord,

nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.

III. Prayer’s Declaration (6-9) - David knew:

A. He was Heard - 6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

It was Praiseworthy - Blessed be the LORD

It was Personnal - because he hath heard

It was Practical - the voice of my supplications.

B. He was Helped - 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

It's Testimony - The LORD is my strength and my shield

It's Trust - my heart trusted in him, and I am helped

It's Triumph - therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;

It's Truth - and with my song will I praise him.

C. He was Healed - 8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

D. He was Held - 9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

I’ve seen the lightning flashing, And heard the thunder roll;

I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, Trying to conquer my soul;

I’ve heard the voice of Jesus, Telling me still to fight on;

He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.

No, never alone, No, never alone,

He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone;

No, never alone, No, never alone,

He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.

The world’s fierce winds are blowing, Temptations are sharp and keen

I feel a peace in knowing, My Saviour stands between;

He stands to shield me from danger, When earthly friends are gone,

He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.
