O My Father, Bless Me Too.

TEXT: Genesis 27:34, 38

"And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father... And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept."

A DESPERATE AND BITTER CRY

When a man is in the valley and cries to God in desperation, it is difficult for God to ignore him. Esau was such a man. He sold his birthright for a pot of porridge nonchalantly and Jacob stole his blessing by cunning deceit, but he was not ready to let his father die without blessing him. Although Isaac, his father, told him his blessing has been transferred to Jacob, he cried to his father so desperately that Isaac had no option but to pronounce a remnant of blessing upon his life.

"Bless me, even me also, O my father." He cried and wept bitterly before his father. His cries echoes still today in the heart of men and women desperate for the heavenly father's blessings. Are you in a desperate situation? Are you down in the valley? Have men deserted and forsaken you? Cry to God from the depth of your heart. He still answers the prayers of desperate men. The Lord will hear your cries, our father in heaven will answer your prayers. He will wipe away your tears and make your joy full in Jesus name.

PRAYER OF DELIVERANCE

Isaac prayed for Esau thus: "...Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck" (Gen 27:39-40). It was a prayer of deliverance and eventually Esau broke the yoke of Jacob's dominion. The remnant of blessing from his father's lips after his desperate cries and tears was enough to make him a mighty man of valour with 400 warriors under his control and enough livestock and resources to live like a lord.

Genesis 32:6 says: "And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him."

Genesis 33:9 tells us: "And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself."

EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER AVAILS MUCH

Jacob himself wrestled with an angel in his desperation and cried fervently: "I will not let you go until you bless me" (Gen 32:26). His name was changed from Jacob to Israel.

In bitter sorrow and despair, Jabez cried desperately to God: "Enlarge my coast..." (1 Chron 4:12). God answered him.

James 5:16b says: "... The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

In his mercy, God will hear your cry of desperation and answer your prayers in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

My Father in heaven, bless me, even me also. Let my dwelling be the fatness of the earth and the dew of heaven from above in Jesus name.
