>1 SAMUEL 14; I THESSALONIANS 5

***JANUARY IS STEWARDSHIP MONTH:

OUR THEME VERSE IS I CORINTHIANS 4:2

I CORINTHIANS 4
2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

I. THE EXPLANATION OF STEWARDSHIP

THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT WE ARE STEWARDS (MANAGER OF SOMEONE ELSES POSSESSIONS)

II. THE EXTENT OF STEWARDSHIP
PSALM 24:1 The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

EVERYTHING I HAVE BELONGS TO GOD.
1. TEMPLE
2. TIME
3. TREASURE
4. TALENT
5. TONGUE

III. THE EXPECTATION OF STEWARDSHIP
***GOD DOESN’T HAVE A LENGTHY LIST OF EXPECTATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS FOR HIS MANAGERIAL TEAM…HE HAS ONLY 1 JOB REQUIREMENT: THAT A MAN BE FOUND FAITHFUL.

IV. SOME EXAMPLES OF STEAWRDSHIP
***THIS MONTH, WE ARE LOOKING AT 4 SPECIFIC AREAS IN WHICH WE AS THE PEOPLE OF GOD ARE TO BE FAITHFUL:
1. GATHERING
2. GIVING
3. GOING
4. GLOWING
***3 WEEKS AGO, GATHERING…CHURCH ATTENDANCE
***2 WEEKS,AGO GIVING…TITHES/OFFERINGS
***LAST WEEK, OUR EMPHASIS WAS ON FAITHFULNESS IN GOING.

***TODAY, FAITHFULNESS IN OUR GLOWING…I’M SPEAKING OF LETTING OUR LIGHTS SHINE:
JESUS SAID, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.”

HE SAID WE ARE TO BE LITTLE LIGHTS…MATTHEW 5:16

***WE LIVE IN A DARK WORLD…IF THERE HAS EVER BEEN A TIME WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE NEED TO LET THEIR LIGHTS SHINE BRIGHTLY, IT’S TODAY!

***BUT THE INTENSITY OF THE OUR LIGHTS IS NOT OUR ONLY CONCERN; WE MUST ALSO HAVE A LIGHT THAT SHINES PROPERLY OR IT MAY DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD:

“LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE…

…IN A PARTICULAR MANNER
1. PEOPLE CAN BE BLESSED BY ONE LIGHT; BUT CAN BE BURNED BY ANOTHER LIGHT.

2. A LIGHT MAY ATTRACT LIKE MESQUITOS TO A STREET LIGHT ON A SUMMER NIGHT OR IT MAY ATTACK LIKE A BUG BUSTER IN A BACK YARD.

3. A LIGHT MAY SOOTHE OR A LIGHT MAY SCORCH.

4. A LIGHT CAN HEAL OR A LIGHT CAN HURT.

***IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW IT SHINES…LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE…

***HOW IS YOUR LIGHT SHINING?
1. DO YOU BLESS OR BURN?
2. DO YOU ATTRACT OR ATTACK?
3. DO YOU SOOTHE OR SCORCH?
4. DO YOU HEAL OR HURT?

***THE ANSWER TO THESE QUESTIONS IS FOUND IN HOW YOU TREAT OTHERS!
THAT IS MY FOCUS THIS MORNING:

I SAMUEL 14:16 And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and, behold, the multitude melted away,
