Text: Psalm 37:23 (King James Version)

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and He delighteth in His Way."

Topic: Order My Steps!

Almighty God has a Plan for each and every individual which includes many steps that will bring us into conformity with His Will - if that is our desire! The New Living Translation (NLT) records our Holy Scripture text, for today, a psalm by the psalmist, David, in this way: "The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives." The Message Bible (MSG), states things this way: "Stalwart walks in step with God; his path blazed by God, he’s happy. If he stumbles, he’s not down for long; God has a grip on his hand."

The songwriter, Glenn Burleigh, says things well in his song, entitled, Order My Steps:"

***"Order my steps in Your Word, dear Lord,
***Lead me, guide me, every day.
***Send Your anointing, Father, I pray.
***Order my steps in Your Word.
***Please order my steps in Your Word.

***Humbly I ask Thee, teach me Your Will.
***While You are working, help me be still.
***Though Satan is busy, God is real!
***Order my steps in Your Word.
***Please order my steps in Your Word.

***Bridle my tongue, let my words edify,
***Let the words of my mouth be acceptable in Thy sight.
***Take charge of my thoughts, both day and night.
***Order my steps in Your Word.
***Please order my steps in Your Word.

***I want to walk worthy, my calling to fulfill.
***Please order my steps, Lord, and I’ll do Your blessed Will,
***The world is ever changing, but You are still the same.
***If You order my steps, I’ll praise Your Name."

In the "Book of Wisdom," the Old Testament Book of Proverbs, in Proverbs 16:9 (KJV), we are told: "A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." The New Living Translation (NLT), records it this way: "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." The Message Bible (MSG), says it this way: "We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it."

Many steps are found along the way of life - there sre steps of sickness, steps of problems, steps of testings, steps of crises, steps of happiness; and, steps of harmony - all designed to bring us to a place where Almighty God desires us to be! It is essential that we take them all!

The psalmist, David, tells us in Psalm 144:15 (MSG): "How blessed the people who have all this! How blessed the people who have God for God!" The New Living Translation (NLT) states it this way: "Yes, happy are those who have it like this! Happy indeed are those whose God is the Lord."

Real happiness is always conditional! First, it is necessary to be saved! People who are uncertain about where they will spend Eternity, cannot relax and be happy! The prospect of losing one’s soul is a nagging thought - the possibility of a lake of fire will drain the fun out of a thinking and reasonable mind! When we are saved, the presence of the Lord God Almighty comes into our lives through His Holy Spirit; and, He dwells there!

Secondly, it is necessary to surrender to Almighty God’s Will for our lives! When we are saved, a fierce battle is fought between the old nature and the new person! There can be no true happiness until the new person
