Summary: The first indication and fruit of the new life?

1. What is always presented as the first indication and fruit of the new life? Love (v. 1; cf. 1 John 2:10-11).

2. What is one important way of manifesting the love of Christ? Being gracious to others (v. 2).

3. What is another characteristic of true Christian love? Kindness to those suffering (v. 3; cf. Romans 12:15).

4. Why should there be no place for covetousness in the character of a Christian? “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (v. 5).

5. To whom should we give our consideration and encouragement? Preachers (v. 7). The words, “who have the rule over you,” or “who are your spiritual guides.”

6. What should give us contentment (v. 5) and also keep us from being carried about by strange doctrines? “For it is good that the heart be established by grace” (v. 9).

7. What is lacking in those who are easily impressed by novel teaching? Established with grace. (v. 9).

8. If the Jews who remained under restrictions of the ceremonial laws should tell a believing Jew that he was without an altar, a sacrifice, and a priest, what could the Christian answer? We have an altar (v. 10).

9. If the Jews who believed in Christ were excommunicated from the Synagogue, and cast out of Judaism, of what might it remind them. Christ suffered outside the gate (vv. 11-12).

10. Having the joy of the salvation what should believers be willing to do for the One who was cast out for them? Bearing His reproach (v. 13).

11. Though we must be pilgrims bearing His reproach what is our comfort? We seek the One to come (v. 14; 4:9; 11:16; 12:22).

12. What is the sacrifice now required on our new Altar? Fruit of our lips (v. 15; Ephesians 5:20).

13. Is there such a thing as the perfecting of believers apart from the blood of the everlasting covenant? No (vv. 20-21; Ephesians 2:810).

14. To whom must all the glory be given? Jesus Christ (v. 21).

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
