Isa. 41:8-20 PRECIOUS PROMISES FOR YOUR JOURNEY 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Intro: The Context. God is confronting the heathen for their idolatry, but is comforting Israel concerning their relationship with Himself.

I. THE PROMISE OF HIS PRESENCE 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: A. His Presence Is Powerful – Fear thou not His presence has the power to drive away fear – 2 Tim. 1:7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. B. His Presence Is Personal – for I am with thee Matt. 28:20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Ill. Not an angel, but the Lord Himself – the "I AM." not I WAS, or I Will BE) New Chinese believer named Lo who found Matt. 28:20 and took it personally. C. His Presence Is Perpetual – lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Heb. 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

II. THE PROMISE OF HIS PERSON be not dismayed; for I am thy God: A. There Is A Relationship – for I am thy God: (Thy) This is personal. ( I need to know what He (My God) can do for me.) There are things that He Alone, Can Do, Must Do, Will Do. B. There Is A Realization – for I am thy God He is GOD! He can do anything! John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. C. There Is A Rest – be not dismayed ("Dismayed" – To look anxiously about.) If God is my God, and He is an able God, then why do need to fear, fret or faint? My God is on the throne! There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God.

A place where sin cannot molest, Near to the heart of God. O Jesus, blest Redeemer, Sent from the heart of God,

Hold us who wait before Thee, Near to the heart of God. There is a place of comfort sweet, Near to the heart of God.

A place where we our Savior meet, Near to the heart of God. There is a place of full release, Near to the heart of God.

A place where all is joy and peace, Near to the heart of God.

III. THE PROMISE OF HIS POWER I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Yea = "Surely" A. He Will Strengthen Us – There will be grace and strength for every need – 2 Cor. 12:9; And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. B. He Will Support Us – I will help thee He will give us what we need, when we need it, in the exact proportions that we require it – John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Phil. 4:19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. C. He Will Sustain Us I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness God will keep us and get us safely through the journey until we all reach Heaven, 9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away 17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. God did not save us to abandon us along the way – 1 Pet. 1:5, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.(Ill. Present, Passive, Participle)
