PRESERVING OUR SPIRITUAL HERITAGE—Part I—Joshua 22:10-34

A man told his doctor that he wasn’t able to do all the things around the house that he used to do. When the examination was complete, he said, "Now, Doc, I can take it.
Tell me in plain English what is wrong with me."
"Well, in plain English," the doctor replied, "you’re just lazy."
"Okay," said the man. "Now give me the medical term so I can tell my wife."

The man had to preserve his heritage of slackness.
Christians must preserve their heritage of godliness.

APPROPRIATE REMINDERS(:10)

Far-removed

—Explanation:(:10)
“And when they came to the region of the Jordan which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben & the sons of Gad & the half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar there by the Jordan, a large altar in appearance.”

Josh. 4:4-7—“So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the sons of Israel, one man from each tribe; & Joshua said to them, “Cross again to the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan, & each of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel. “Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ then you shall say to them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.”

—Argumentation:
Heb. 10:1-4—“For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come & not the very form of things, can never by the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls & goats to take away sins.”
