Summary: If we, as believers, make plans on our own, they are destined for failure. But if God makes them they are a guaranteed success. Exodus 14:14 says: The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Standing Still

Exodus 14:13-14

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

I have entitled this today: “Standing Still”

The Lord, in Exodus chapter 14, is directing the people of Israel exactly where to go.

From the millitary point of view, Israel had blundered badly, or at least that is what Pharoah thought.

God was leading them and He had a plan and purpose for taking this particular route.

If we, as believers, make plans on our own, they are destined for failure. But if God makes them they are a guaranteed success.

To Pharaoh, it looked like they had Israel exactly where they wanted them, and they were going to follow Israel to the desert and he thought they would take care of business.

When you don’t listen to what God says to do then your hearts will become hardened to God’s plan in a situation.

Pharaoh was in a constant state of rebellion to the Word of God.

Pharaoh’s continued rebellion was going to fall out to the Glory of God.

If God’s people truly follow the Lord, whatever Satan does, will fall out to the Glory of God, but only if God’s people fully trust and obey.

Exodus 14:5

Ex 14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

Satan does not easily give up his attempts to hold believers in bondage.

If the believer does not give up on God, I mean have a faith that with God all things are possible total and complete victory is guaranteed.

Ro 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Exodus 14:6-7

Ex 14:6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

Josphus records that Pharaoh had 50,000 horsemen, and 200,000 horsemen, as well as all of the chariots.

Even after God had warned Pharoah that before all of the plagues on Egypt happened, that he would lose his first born son he did not listen.

Exodus 4:23

Ex 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

Exodus 14:9-10

Ex 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

Verses 10-12 record the complaints of Israel, the fear, unbelief, and anger of the very people who had witnessed God’s wonders in the land of Egypt.

After you have been on a mountain it is easy to tumble back to the valley.

From this statement, we learn what a preacher is supposed to preach, fear ye not.

That has always been the Word of the Lord; with God on our side, and us looking wholly to Him we have nothing to fear.

2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The people were to stand still, all attempts to help must end, all activities of the flesh must cease.

Our faith has to rest on Christ as our deliverer.

They were to stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord, which He was going to show them that day.

Victory is yours today, if you will only put your faith in Jesus as your help.

Ex 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

The Lord could fight for Israel as long as they did what He told them to do.

Had they turned to fight the Egyptians, they would have failed because of disobedience.

1 Kings 19:11-12

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

God does not always work the way we think He should.

Maybe it is time we stand still and let God do a work for us.

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Deliverance was on its way, the Red Sea parted for the children of Israel and when the Egyptians went to follow they were killed.

They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.

Isa 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

Maybe today you fear to trust God. Has He ever failed you?

Maybe it is time to just put our hands up and surrender to God’s plan.

Psalm 4:3-4

3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Are we Godly? Are we properly following Jesus the way we should?

David knew that God would hear him when he cried and so should we.

According to David in Psalm verse 4 they were to Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

We need to stand in awe and sin not.

We have to learn to be still and let God be God of our lives.

The Lord will lead and fight the battles for us if we only learn to let Him lead and be still.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

1-7-03 Dream by Pastor Joe

Jesus leads me through a dark building

I dreamed I was in a dark building. I was being led by a guy who had a gun. I didn’t have one. I knew this was somekind of game, but then again I knew that it wasn’t. I knew it was serious. The guy whom I was with kept seeing the enemy. I didn’t, He would shoot him. Not one time did these enemies shoot back. The guy whom I was with was good. I now see a dark fiqure standing in a room. I was pretty far away. The closer we got, the more I could see him. I was wondering why he wasn’t firing at us. I realized it was because whom I was with. The dark figure now gets shot. He was doubled over. I knew that I had won.

2 Chronicles 32:7-8

7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

I Am Not Fearing Because Of Whom I Serve

Do you fear today?

Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Standing still and letting Jesus lead the way is what we need to do.

We need to stay strong and couragious and not give up because the battle is not ours, but it is His because we are His property.

God will show us exactly where to go, but we need to stand upon His Word and let Him be in total charge.

He is a speaking God who will speak to us if we learn to listen.

Psalm 4:3-4

3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Are you Godly? Then God has set us apart for Himself.

Exodus 14:13-14

Ex 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Fear not because God is in control!

Don’t ever give up because, just like David the battle is not ours. It is God’s if we stay faithful to Him.

Isaiah 55:7-11

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
