Summary: God will reveal himself according to our desire for him.

THE DEEPER THE WALK

Pastor Ken Crow

This morning I want to start with several scriptures. All found in Genesis. Then we will move to the book of Luke chapter 1.

Genesis 5:24 (King James Version)

24And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Genesis 6:9 (King James Version)

9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Genesis 17:1 (King James Version)

1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Luke chapter 1, starting in verse 26:

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

39And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

40And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

41And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

50And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

51He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

53He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

54He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

55As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

56And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

In these scripture we read of whom we consider to be five very extraordinary people in the Bible.

Enoch, Noah, Abram ( later to be Abraham) , Mary and Elizabeth.

Enoch’s walk was so close to God that God took him out before he seen death.

Noah’s walk with God was so close to God that Noah and his family were chosen to be saved in a very wicked world from the wrath of the flood.

Abraham’s walk was so close to God that God told it would be through him that all the nations of the earth would be blessed.

Elizabeth was chosen to bear the forerunner of Jesus Christ , whom Jesus himself proclaimed the greatest of all the prophets.

And finally Mary of whom from her womb came The Way The Truth and The Life. The Spotless Perfect Lamb, the King of Kings ……The one and only who was capable of bearing the sins of the world upon himself at the cross.

The one who would rise from the dead…The only begotten son of God.

See where we are going here? The deeper the walk the greater the blessing!

This may not be for everybody this morning but it could be.

I am preaching to someone this morning who wants to move from the mundane to the supernatural.

There is something these five all had in common! Yes one thing that stands out among all the other godly attributes.

They accepted the blessing, but receiving it was not enough.

Sometimes and far too often we receive but we run out!

Oh yes we receive on Sunday, maybe even on Wed. or in revival but the next day or the next week we are back to the same old life of hopelessness and shattered dreams that we were in before.

Yes , these five had one thing in common that absolutely determined there place in life as well as history.

Yes they received but once they received they carried, they nurtured that which they received.

The blessing became part of them!

The deeper they walked with God the greater the blessing became!

Bothers and Sisters in the Lord if we are to keep that which God has blessed us with we must carry , nurture and feed the blessing…..we must walk with it! We must dream with it! We must build with it! We must speak to it! Oh my goodness I feel God right now!

Any of these five never broke, forgot or abandoned that which God gave them.

The blessing will grow as we walk with God.

These five as they walked with God , see we can’t walk with a blessing unless we are walking with The Father , The Son and the Holy Ghost!

These five as they walked with the blessing …..

The blessing never grew dimmer. Never did the blessing fade away into just a memory but with each the blessing increased! The blessing grew!

That healing you received ten years ago was never meant to be just a fond memory !

That fianancial blessing we received was never meant to be just something to remember and smile about!

That spiritual gift was never intended to be something just to invoke at a convienant time!

That blessing was intend for us to walk with, to carry , to nurture oh yes !

Again I am preaching to those who want something bigger! Something deeper ! Someone who is tired but yet hungry! Someone who dares to dream dreams and see visions! Someone who wants to move from religion to something beyond the limitations of man! Someone who wants to see the glory of the Lord in all his majesty!

Someone who desires to walk in the gifts of the Spirit! Someone who wants to lay hands on the sick and see them recover! Someone who wants to tread on serpents and scorpions…..someone who wants to walk in the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost!

All these five….there was one trait about their blessing . Each one of their blessings grew and is still growing today….

Get this if you don’t get anything else.

My blessing is just for me to carry. To walk with . To nurture and to feed and to love.

My blessing is not all about me.

In fact if my blessing is all about me it will fade away and die.

As I walk with Jesus my blessing will grow.

The deeper I walk , the closer I walk the more my blessing will grow.

In fact today I need to concentrate on walking with him and as I do the greater his blessings will become!

In the name of Jesus this morning pray with me. Lord I thank you for saving me. Lord I thank you that as a child of yours I am favored .

Lord you say in your word that if I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth I shall be saved. Jesus said I must be born again. Jesus come into my heart right here and right now and make me a new creature in you. amen
