Mark 10:17-22

What kind of questions do you think you might ask Jesus?

I. The Background (v. 17)

The QUESTIONER – Luke tells us he was a ruler and we are also told he was rich.

His APPROACH

His Greeting – Rabbi GOOD?

Good – as in compared to others or good as only God can be?

The CONTEXT – had so much, yet still felt a need

The QUESTION – had inherited much else?

As much as he had in this world, he sensed a need for the next

(LOST!!)

What must I DO?

II. The ANSWER (vv. 18-21)

Jesus gave him THE LAW

5, 6, 7, 8 , 9 – all relating to how we relate to our fellow man

Well, I’ve done that!

Probably thinking, “I’m good to go!”

Jesus gave him HIS LOVE

“beheld him” – looked intently, peered into him

Christian world view

III. The RESULT (v. 22)

Chose STUFF over the SAVIOR

Went away SORROWFUL vs. SAVED
