Video- Being Mom…skit guys

Being a mother is difficult… a challenging responsibility that is defiantly underappreciated…it takes patience…and it takes commitment.

I think that every mother learns at a young age… the importance of wearing many hats within the home.

How many of the mothers here today can relate to the video we just watched?

Correct me if I’m wrong…but hasn’t every mom received that name brand vacuum at one time or another in their lifetime as a Mother’s Day gift?

I can remember the first mother’s day gift that I purchased for my dream girl… “A under the counter can opener”…

We were engaged…and I was planning ahead.

I couldn’t figure out why Shiela didn’t get excited as I did about that???????????????

Each year on this special day… children and husbands all around the world take time to purchase the special gift for their mothers and wives.

If you’re a last minute shopper and have not purchased a gift for your mother or your wife yet, let me give you a couple of helpful hints on what not to buy.

Do not buy Mom anything that plugs in...If something needs to be plugged in, she will only see it as a tool. (Not good…I personally learned that one)

If Mom does not currently have a membership at the gym…do not offer to buy her one…or buy her any exercise equipment or videos…because this will lead to six months of her asking you why you think she needs to exercise in the first place.

And I guarantee you that you will never have the right answer to that one...

And if you ask her where she would like to eat her mother’s day lunch…more than likely she is going to say that it doesn’t matter…you choose.

My advice to you is…it does matter…(you choose means) make sure you take her to her favorite restaurant.

Mother’s Day is the one day of many throughout the year that mom’s should be placed upon a pedestal…and thanked for all they do.

You must remember and never forget that God…choose you to be a mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers here this morning. We are excited that you are here…

As we continue today in our Re-Discover Church Open House Month…I want every mother here to realize how important that she is to God and too her home.

The Bible says that the Husband is the head of the house…and I agree with that 100%.

But I also am smart enough to realize that behind every man…there is a great woman… great Mom.

Mom are very special people.

They have many abilities that dads don’t possess.

Without the love that only a Mother can give…I question what condition each HOME might be in?

Every home begins with making sure that there is a solid foundation in which to build it on.

My hope is that every mother that is here today realizes that there is only one right way to live life…and that’s... “God’s way”

In PROVERBS 22:6…Mothers are given some clear advice on how to raise their children. (Read)

Clearly God’s way is the most important thing to be established early in life…

What does it really mean to “train up a child in the way he should go?”

Every Godly mother realizes that when Gods way is implemented early in a child’s life and within the home…lifelong habits are established.

When a child is taught from birth the correct way to live…by the time they become an adult themselves… they will already be well grounded in the proper way to live.

God knew long before science figured it out…that being a mother and raising a family would be a very demanding and difficult thing to do.

Slide # 3

When I think of the word Mom…It reminds me of the process that happens…when a piece of coal is compacted under extreme pressure for thousands of years…the end result is a priceless gem.

This is why…every mother is a diamond in God’s eye…because you can handle life under extreme pressure.

That is why God…created Mom’s different from Dad’s.

God gives each mother special abilities that help in keeping the home/family in working order.

The first ability that is found in a Christian Mother’s life is…

Slide#4 Her Commitment Towards God

Every Christian mother understands in order for the home to function properly first and most important…she needs to be firmly grounded in Christ.

How well does the electricity in your home work if it has been installed improperly from the start?

When a home is first being constructed…before the drywall and paint are installed…every builder knows that there are very important steps that need done before the finished project is revealed.

Building a lasting home begins with…

-Foundation…(Most important step) The church in today’s society.

-Subfloor…

-Walls…

-Roofing and sheeting…

All these steps are important…but the ones that follow next are just as important.

Remember when I said… “Every Christian mother understands in order for the home to function properly first and most important…she needs to be firmly grounded in Christ”.

The electric wires in the home…must also all be installed and grounded correctly to the fuse box.

Mom’s it is very important for you to realize today that in order for you to be able to handle the shocks of mother Hood…you must have a fuse box(Christ in your life).

Your fuse box (God) keeps everything from overheating and catching on fire.

God is the only thing that will keep you organized when the load seems too heavy to handle.

Along with the electric wires being installed…the plumbing pipes must be installed.

The world that we all live in is filled with all kinds of useless waste…

Not only do we daily hear un-needed garbage…but our kids hear it as well.

These plumbing pipes are essential in being able to flush away all the negativity that you hear about in the world today.

Remember that a Godly home is a clean home.

Next don’t forget to rough in some coax cable wires.

This enables you to be able to plug into God’s words and directions from creditable preachers and teachers throughout the day. (No soap operas)

Mom’s you have to be prepared for whatever…life is going to throw at…cha.

You need to be listening to Beth Moore…Dr. Tony Evans…Dr. Charles Stanley….Christian radio stations like 104.5…90.9…www.Airone radio.com

I have seen it time and time again where a Mom is devastated by the news of one of their children slipping away from the Lord.

This is where being firmly grounded in Christ will keep you from falling into the worlds trap.

Not only are Godly mom’s committed to their love for God…but they are also…

Slide # 5 She’s a Multi-tasker

I mentioned earlier that all mothers realize the importance of wearing many hats in the family

When dad is away at work…Mom’s become the super heroes’ of the family…

Moms are taxi-cab drivers…She makes sure the kids are never late for school…

After school she makes sure the kids arrive at band and soccer practices on time…

Every Mom realizes the difference that God can/does make in her own life…

So since she’s the taxi-cab driver…she makes it her own priority that the kids never miss out on wed. Night Youth Group. (One Student Ministry Plug)

These moms are found in every church…they know the importance of God in life. (Mom…if Dad’s not gonna do it…you do it)

Mom also become the Iron Chef … the Moms day begins very early by making sure the kids don’t leave the home without…breakfast. (most important meal of the day)

After dropping off the kids at school…Next she runs by the store…picks up the ingredients to prepare the supper that Dr. Oz recommends holds the most nutritional value for her family.

She is also current/up to date with the latest and greatest electronic gadgets…Facebook…texting…and twitter.

She also becomes a Judge like on the show America’s Got Talent. She takes the time to watch every little act that her kids…And the Big one’s performing for her.

And of course… each act automatically is scored as 10!

Being a mother some days also involves implementing “Tough Love” this is one of the jobs that no mother loves.

Don’t feel guilty about telling your kids… No every once and awhile. (There gonna get over it…and in the long run there gonna appreciate what you did for them)

Illustration….

I heard about a little boy sitting on his front steps with his face cradled in his hands, looking so forlorn. His dad came home just then & asked him what was wrong. The little boy looked up & said, "Well, just between us, Dad, I’m having trouble getting along with your wife, too!"

Many times I often wonder where would our kids be today without the love of our mothers?

Slide #6 The Love Only a Mother could Give

In Exodus chapter 2 we find a story about the love of a Levite mother...

This mom’s love for her child was so great that she was willing to turn her child over into the hands of the enemy... in order that God might use him.

You might have heard of the name Moses?

Because Jock-a-bed Moses mother was willing to completely trust God…she saved the life of her son.

Pharaoh had just command that every Jewish male baby be taken down to the Nile river and drowned.

Read 2:1-4

A diamond is formed when the pressures of life are present…she acted without hesitation.

What would life be like for us today…if Moses mother didn’t trust God?

Listen to a few of the things Moses was able to accomplish…

-He was raised in the home of Pharaoh…finest schooling

-Fled to the land of Midian…preparation of Service

-Walked on Holy Ground…the burning bush

-Returned to deliver the Hebrew slaves…revealed the one true God to Pharaoh

-Led the Israelites out of Egypt…40 year journey

-He parted the Red Sea…Stopped Pharaoh dead in his tracks

-He brought water out of a rock…proving once again the existence of God to the doubters of the world.

-He received the Ten Commandments…He visibly witnessed the power of God

-He trained his successor (Joshua…who led the people into the promise land)

All these things became possible because of a mother’s love for her child.

I close today’s service with a little story I found on the internet.

But before I read it I want to just say…Mom you never know what impact you have on your children by allowing God into your home.

Illustration…“A mother walked into her young son’s bedroom just in time to hear him begin his nighttime prayers.

He said, “Andy, please forgive me for what I did wrong today, and Andy, please keep my mommy and daddy safe.”

After he had finished, she asked him who Andy was.

He told her that was God’s name.

She asked him how he knew that, and he said that in church they sang to Andy. “

They would sing, “Andy walks with me – Andy talks to me.”

Kids are awesome…I love children and I love being a Dad.

But I am truly thankful to God for the Mom’s that he allows in our lives.

Stand.

What about the Love God had for His Children?
