Summary: To show that GOD does not want us to labor hard to earn money, but to labor hard for His Presence.

I. EXORDIUM:

Are you a hard worker to earn more money? STOP. Must be a hard worker in the ministry not in work to earn money for GOD gives money to us as a gift. It's a blessing.

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that GOD does not want us to labor hard to earn money, but to labor hard for His Presence.

Psalms 37:4 (Amplified Bible)

37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

IV. TEXT:

Genesis 31:42 (Amplified Bible)

31:42 And if the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Dread [lest he should fall] and Fear [lest he offend] of Isaac, had not been with me, surely you would have sent me away now empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and humiliation and the [wearying] labor of my hands and rebuked you last night.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for through Your Grace and Presence in our lives, You have already given us everything in this life that we need and more, and You want us to focus our mind and remember You only You.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (Amplified Bible)

8:9 For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).

2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

9:8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

VI. TITLE:

We are empty handed without GOD

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Moses (commonly accepted)

B. Date written: 1450 - 1410 B.C.

C. Purpose: The book of Origins

D. To whom written: People of Israel

E. Main theme: Man's sin and the initial steps taken for his redemption by a divine covenant made with a chosen race whose early history is here portrayed.—Thompson Chain - Bible Book Outlines

F. Keyword: Beginning

G. Key verse: First Messianic Promise,—Genesis 3:15.—Thompson Chain - Bible Book Outlines

Genesis 3:15 (Amplified Bible)

3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her Offspring; He will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise His heel.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD will not allow us to be empty-handed

"And if the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Dread [lest he should fall] and Fear [lest he offend] of Isaac, had not been with me, surely you would have sent me away now empty-handed."

Dread of Isaac - lest he fall

Fear of Isaac - lest he offend

Two of the worst sins a believer can commit:

1. falling away - backsliding

Hebrews 3:12 (Amplified Bible)

3:12 [Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 (Amplified Bible)

2:3 Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),

1 Timothy 4:1 (Amplified Bible)

4:1 BUT THE [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach,

2. being offended - Example: Pharisees and the scribes get offended, a Pharisee/scribe represents self-righteousness by law, hypocrite.

Proverbs 18:19 (Amplified Bible)

18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won over than a strong city, and [their] contentions separate them like the bars of a castle.

Matthew 15:12 (Amplified Bible)

15:12 Then the disciples came and said to Him, Do You know that the Pharisees were displeased and offended and indignant when they heard this saying?

Matthew 15:6-8 (Amplified Bible)

15:6 So for the sake of your tradition (the rules handed down by your forefathers), you have set aside the Word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect].

15:7 You pretenders (hypocrites)! Admirably and truly did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said:

15:8 These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me.

Empty-handed, empty or "reyqam" in Hebrew meaning:

1. emptily

2. ineffectually

3. in vain

4. void

5. undeservedly

Psalms 124:1-3 (Amplified Bible)

124:1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. IF IT had not been the Lord Who was on our side—now may Israel say—

124:2 If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us,

124:3 Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

B. GOD has seen our difficulties, He rebukes our enemies

"God has seen my affliction and humiliation and the [wearying] labor of my hands and rebuked you last night."

Affliction or "ony" in Hebrew meaning:

1. depression

2. trouble

Labor or "yegya" in Hebrew meaning:

1. toil

2. work, produce, property

3. labor, work

Toil - To labor; to work; to exert strength with pain and fatigue of body or mind, particularly of the body, with efforts of some continuance or duration.

Labor - Exertion of muscular strength, or bodily exertion which occasions weariness; particularly, the exertion of the limbs in occupations by which subsistence is obtained, as in agriculture and manufactures, in distinction from exertions of strength in play or amusements, which are denominated exercise, rather than labor. Toilsome work; pains; travail; any bodily exertion which is attended with fatigue. After the labors of the day, the farmer retires, and rest is sweet. Moderate labor contributes to health.

Sorrow - The uneasiness or pain of mind which is produced by the loss of any good. or of frustrated hopes of good, or expected loss of happiness; to grieve; to be sad.

(Source: Webster's 1828 Dictionary)

GOD does not want us to work, labor hard or sorrow because work is part of the curse.

Genesis 3:17-19 (Amplified Bible)

3:17 And to Adam He said, Because you have listened and given heed to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it, the ground is under a curse because of you; in sorrow and toil shall you eat [of the fruits] of it all the days of your life.

3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field.

3:19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you shall return.

What GOD wants us is to enjoy the blessings He has already given.

John 1:16 (Amplified Bible)

1:16 For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.

Proverbs 10:22 (Amplified Bible)

10:22 The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

2 Peter 1:3-4 (Amplified Bible)

1:3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).

1:4 By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (Amplified Bible)

8:18 But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Hebrews 13:21 (Amplified Bible)

13:21 Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).

GOD does not want us to work, labor, work hard in sorrow to earn a living but what GOD wants is for us to work hard, labor and toil in sorrow for GOD's vineyard, that is the ministry or service we give the church. GOD already "bestowed" meaning ALL His riches and blessing is at our DISPOSAL. That's why we are trained to be a blessing to all nations.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (Amplified Bible)

15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].

Galatians 6:9 (Amplified Bible)

6:9 And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.

Hebrews 6:10 (Amplified Bible)

6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name’s sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.

Ephesians 6:7 (Amplified Bible)

6:7 Rendering service readily with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to men,

1 Peter 3:9 (Amplified Bible)

3:9 Never return evil for evil or insult for insult (scolding, tongue-lashing, berating), but on the contrary blessing [praying for their welfare, happiness, and protection, and truly pitying and loving them]. For know that to this you have been called, that you may yourselves inherit a blessing [from God—that you may obtain a blessing as heirs, bringing welfare and happiness and protection].

IX. CONCLUSION:

2 Peter 1:3 (Amplified Bible)

1:3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for through Your Grace and Presence in our lives, You have already given us everything in this life that we need and more, and You want us to focus our mind and remember You only You.
