Summary: To show what are wicked people like. To learn that wicked people are not wicked because they do wicked things, but because they rejected the LORD JESUS who is the solution to the wickedness.

I. EXORDIUM:

Are you wicked?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show what are wicked people like. To learn that wicked people are not wicked because they do wicked things, but because they rejected the LORD JESUS who is the solution to the wickedness.

John 3:19 (Amplified Bible)

3:19 The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil.

IV. TEXT:

Psalms 28:3 (Amplified Bible)

28:3 Drag me not away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors, but malice and mischief are in their hearts.

Parallel verses:

Proverbs 26:23-26 (Amplified Bible)

26:23 Burning lips [uttering insincere words of love] and a wicked heart are like an earthen vessel covered with the scum thrown off from molten silver [making it appear to be solid silver].

26:24 He who hates pretends with his lips, but stores up deceit within himself.

26:25 When he speaks kindly, do not trust him, for seven abominations are in his heart.

26:26 Though his hatred covers itself with guile, his wickedness shall be shown openly before the assembly.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for I have been restored to perfection because You have removed wickedness far from my body by your resurrection.

Job 22:23 (New International Version)

22:23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. They speak peace to their neighbours

"Drag me not away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors,"

Draw or "mashak" in Hebrew meaning:

1. continue

2. extend, forbear

3. give, handle

4. scatter, stretch out

Wicked or "rasha" in Hebrew meaning:

1. morally wrong

2. an actively bad person

3. condemned

4. guilty

5. ungodly

Workers or "paal" in Hebrew meaning:

1. ordain

2. worker

3. commit

Iniquity or "aven" in Hebrew meaning:

1. strictly nothingness

3. an idol - affliction, evil, false, iniquity, mischief, sorrow, unjust, unrighteous, vain

Peace or "shalom shalom" in Hebrew meaning:

1. safe - well, happy, friendly, welfare, health, prosperity, peace

These wicked people are committed people to do their idol worship, but the sad part some believers are not committed to do good for the LORD.

Psalms 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

12:2 To his neighbor each one speaks words without use or worth or truth; with flattering lips and double heart [deceitfully] they speak.

Psalms 55:21 (Amplified Bible)

55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than cream or butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, oppression (fraud); under his tongue are trouble and sin (mischief and iniquity).

In the LORD JESUS's day, they are called "hypocrites" by the LORD.

Matthew 22:15-18 (Amplified Bible)

22:15 Then the Pharisees went and consulted and plotted together how they might entangle Jesus in His talk.

22:16 And they sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that You are sincere and what You profess to be and that You teach the way of God truthfully, regardless of consequences and being afraid of no man; for You are impartial and do not regard either the person or the position of anyone.

22:17 Tell us then what You think about this: Is it lawful to pay tribute [levied on individuals and to be paid yearly] to Caesar or not?

22:18 But Jesus, aware of their malicious plot, asked, Why do you put Me to the test and try to entrap Me, you pretenders (hypocrites)?

In our day, they are called the pretenders, plastic, two-faced people. They appear as your partner and associate but inside of them are full of evil plans to destroy you. Specifically, in our day, they are the squatters or "informal settlers". They act like your neighbours but they're not paying anything in their house, they don't own the house and lot, they have stolen them. How can they speak peace if they don't have peace within them?

Isaiah 57:21 (Amplified Bible)

57:21 There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.

Romans 3:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

3:16 Destruction [as it dashes them to pieces] and misery mark their ways.

3:17 And they have no experience of the way of peace [they know nothing about peace, for a peaceful way they do not even recognize].

Isaiah 48:22 (Amplified Bible)

48:22 There is no peace, says the Lord, for the wicked.

Isaiah 3:11 (Amplified Bible)

3:11 Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with them, for what their hands have done shall be done to them.

B. Mischief (bad or evil) is in their hearts

"but malice and mischief are in their hearts"

Mischief or "ra raah" in Hebrew meaning:

1. bad or evil

2. adversity, affliction, bad, calamity, displeasure

3. Mischief (Source: Webster Dictionary) - Intentional injury; harm or damage done by design. Ill consequence; evil; vexatious affair.

4. Vexatious - Irritating; disturbing or agitating to the mind; causing disquiet; afflictive; as a vexatious controversy; a vexatious neighbor.

Hearts or "lebab" in Hebrew meaning:

1. the heart

2. the chief part; the vital part; the vigorous or efficacious part (Webster)

Psalms 7:14 (Amplified Bible)

7:14 Behold, [the wicked man] conceives iniquity and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies.

Psalms 10:7 (Amplified Bible)

10:7 His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, oppression (fraud); under his tongue are trouble and sin (mischief and iniquity).

Psalms 10:14 (Amplified Bible)

10:14 You have seen it; yes, You note trouble and grief (vexation) to requite it with Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.

We speak encouragement to the people, we speak out GOD's WORDS to them.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for I have been restored to perfection because You have removed wickedness far from my body by your resurrection.
