Summary: What does it take to build a team? Team work is beautiful. If people would pull together and not worry about who gets the credit... The lineman must block for the quarterback to win.

TEAM: Build A TEAM! SYNERGISM

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

As kids we sang a song: LET US ALL PULL TOGETHER, TOGETHER, TOGETHER ---

LET US ALL PULL TOGETHER --- HOW HAPPY WE WILL BE!

HOW DO WE MEASURE SUCCESS?

We measure by the car you drive? Square footage of the house? Horsepower?

Wins vs Loses? Education? Looks? Bank account? Clubs?

Are we growing a group of people that LOVE THE LOVELY?

Often times the person that needs our love the most, deserves it the least.

Therefore we must be LONG-TERM INVESTORS --- You invest today but realize the

dividends may not be immediate.

TEXT:

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to

another.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth

is born of God, and knoweth God.

SYNERGISM: TEAM WORK CAN CAUSE US TO COME TOGETHER ---

WE CAN ACCOMPLISH MORE TOGETHER THAN WE CAN AS INDIVIDUALS...

One horse can pull 800 pounds, another horse can pull 500 pounds...

Together what can they pull 1300 pounds?

The answer is TOGETHER THEY CAN PULL 2,300 POUNDS?

TEAM: a group of people working together

SYNERGISM: interaction where the total effect is great than the the sum total of the

individuals.

KNIT TOGETHER:

Judges 20:11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold

cord is not quickly broken.

What is required for a good football team? Coach, head coach, offensive, defensive, line coach,

spotter, receivers, quarterbacks, WATERBOYS, parents, statisticians, camera man, half back,

line men, cheer leaders, pep club, ---

There is no i in team...

Today I ponder: WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A GOOD TEAM?.

I believe that God desires team-work.

YET ONE MAN CAN NEVER ACCOMPLISH THE WORK OF GOD.

It takes a team effort.

I would like to help empower the team members to

know how to stand behind GOD’S MAN.

Let’s ponder holding up the man and rod of God.

1. A real team cannot be "ME."

John 10:12 But he that is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the

wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.

13. The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep.

What is the difference in a INDIVIDUALS and an TEAM-WORKERS? The hireling?

MOTIVE, one that works and performs menial or dubious action for profit or popularity rather than

team principles and the word of God.

There are standards to HOLD UP and to HOLD HIGH.

Exodus 17:15. Moses knew the battle was the Lord’s and not his.

He built an altar to God, Jeehovah-nissi.

The work of God was team work.

Where each stands for the other and all stand for the Lord.

T-- together ** E--each ** A--accoplishes** M--more

Moses carried the his role, his hands were, intercession before the people and God.

Joshua was the warrior, advancing the cause. Joshua could never win without Moses

standing in intercession.Joshua was a leader in training. To be a good leader you should

be in submission, follow another.

Moses & Aaron made part of the team, but they needed others.HUR went to the top of the hill.

Many want to climb no hills, they search for easy down hill efforts. Aaron and HUR were part of a team.

Pulled up a rock, lifted the arms, supported the coach.

THE LOAD OF A TEAM CAN GET VERY HEAVY WITHOUT PROPER SUPPORT.

It came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel won, and when he lowered his

hands Amalek won.

THERE MUST BE SOMEONE TO SEE THE NEED, THEN DEVELOP A PLAN.

Exodus 17:12 But Moses hands were heavy; they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat there

upon; and Aaron and HUR STAYED UP HIS HANDS, the one on one side and the other on the other

side; so Moses hands were steadied until the going down of the sun.

The rock was not automatic, there had to be someone to see the need. The rock must have been heavy.

There was more than rock moving, Aaron and HUR had to stand neath the sweating arm pits.

THE VICTORY DEPENDED UPON THE SUPPORT STRUCTURE OF THE TEAM.

Joshua did the foot work, Moses had to lift the rod of the ministry. Moses arms were tired, more than

physical but spiritual battle.

HOW CAN I HELP LIFT THE TEAM? ? ? ?

Paul gives us a good prayer pattern to follow.

We need to teach others how to pray for our Christian leadership.

Please consider this.

Romans 15:30 Now I beseech you brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit,

that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; 31. That I may be delivered from them that do

not believe in Judea and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

32: That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

33: Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Col. 4:3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery

of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

PRAY FOR THE TEAM, PRAY FOR UNITY! KEEP THE UNITY.

Oneness, harmony, togetherness, continuity, undivided, unified.

We need unity of purpose to thrive.

Remember the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

PRAY FOR THE TEAM'S DELIVERANCE.

Total victory, not one step forward two back; liberation, rescue, set free.

Pray that the man of God will find TEAM DELIVERANCE --- personal and family deliverance.

God’s TEAM will be an instrument of deliverance to THE WHOLE.

PRAY FOR THE TEAM TO ACCEPT EACH OTHER AND TO BE ACCEPTED BY THE SAINTS.

Are we willing to receive, assist, support, approval, no protest, acceptable, help, aid, to provide what is

useful or necessary.

Do we find it strange that the acceptance is not by enemys and the world, but the each other?

Overcome jealousy, popularity, competition, tear down walls of division.

PRAY FOR FOR THE TEAM TO EXERCISE IN DIVINE JOY, PEACE AND LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS.

Pleasure, delight, gladden.

Neh. 8:10... the joy of the Lord is our strength, and we weaken without joy.

Have a sense of well being, to delight in God’s work.

Teams must focus on solutions and not obstacles and problems.

Team-work must never tire of people and the circular pattern people tend to follow.

To continue as a team--- the work we must have joy.

PRAY FOR TEAM TO FIND PLEASURE AND DIVINE REFRESHMENT WHILE WORKING WITH OTHERS.

To restore, revive, renew, recycle.

We must guard against loosing our first love.

Find time alone to sharpen your skills. Study and prepare and help others learn to work together.

Develop group of friends to hold each other accountable and that know their duty to hold up arms.

PRAY THAT THE TEAM LEARNS TO KEEP PEACE AMONG THEMSELVES.

A good team learns to keep peace and to be freedom from disturbances, grow security & order, nothing

disquieting, end of hostilities, calm.

There can grow a peace of the team that is a gift of God. (John 14:27)

There is a peace that passes all understanding... (Phil 4: 7)

PRAY THE TEAM TO LOOK FOR OPEN DOORS THAT WILL CAUSES OTHERS TO STEP UP.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME... THIS IS ABOUT US...

We need all barriers to be torn down. All locks and hindrances to be removed.

May God tear down every thing that restricts THE TEAM.

May you never have to be put on a shelf, not useable any more, BECAUSE OF SELF-PROMOTION.

WOULD YOU VOLUNTEER TO BE A HELPER OF THE TEAM?
