Joshua 24:1-28 When It's All Been Said and Done" v. 15b "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua was :- 1. Man of Vigilance v. 1 -13 He Reminded Israel Of :- (a) God's Pre-eminence v.1 and they presented themselves before God. (b) God's Power 1. God Alone had Desired Them, v. 3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac. 2. God Alone had Delivered Them, v. 5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out. 3. God Alone had Defended Them v. 7 And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season. 4. God Alone had Destined Them v. 8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you. v. 11 - 13 (Read) (c) God's Presence 6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea. 8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you. Heb. 13:5; Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Matt. 28:20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (d) God's Provision v. 13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. II. Man of Virtue (vv. 14-15) Note His :- A. Submission to the Lord (v. 14a) Now therefore fear the LORD, B. Service for the Lord (v. 14b) and serve him in sincerity and in truth: C. Separation In the Lord v. 14 and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. D. Selection Of the Lord (v. 15) but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. III. Man of Vision 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

I. JOSHUA'S DECISION - "...choose ye this day..." (1)) A Public Decision - Choose Ye

(2)) A Personal Decision - "Choose you"

(3)) A Permanent Decision - "this day"

(4)) A Particular Decision - "whom ye will serve;"

(5)) A Personal Decision - "as for me"

(6)) A Practical Decision - "and my house"

(7)) A Powerful Decision - "we will"

(8)) A Precious Decision - "serve the Lord" I. IT IS A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO MASTERS. Between Christ. & Satan.

II. IT IS A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO DEATHS.

The Death of the Righteous. or the Death of the Wicked.

III. IT IS A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO RESURRECTIONS.

A resurrection unto everlasting life. or A resurrection unto everlasting shame and contempt (Daniel 12:2).

IV. IT IS A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO JUDGMENTS.

Between the right and left hand of the Judge (Matt. 25:32-33).

Right hand—enter heaven. Left hand—depart to hell.

V. IT IS A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO ETERNAL DESTINIES.

A. Eternity with Christ in heaven. or B. Eternity with Satan in hell. To every man there openeth A Way, and Ways, and a Way.

And the High Soul climbs the High Way And the Low Soul gropes the Low;

And in between, on the misty flats, The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth A High Way and a Low,

And every man decideth The Way his Soul should go."

II. JOSHUA'S DETERMINATION - "...but as for me..." {vs 15} Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

III. JOSHUA'S DISCRETION - "...and my house..." Gen. 18:18-19 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

IV. JOSHUA'S DIRECTION - "...we will serve the Lord..." IV. Man of Victory (vv. 21-31) A. A Conclusive Victory 24 And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey. B. A Convincing Victory 28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance. C. A Contnuing Victory 29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
