The SIGNIFICANCE Of A NEW CREATION-VIII—2Corinthians 5:9--6:10

Attention:

My nephew called the other day with news that he had bought a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SSX—his ‘dream car.’ He had a much older & cheaper Camaro that had a smaller engine & wasn’t very beefy for a Camaro.

His new one is a Six-speed manual shift.

It’s 6.2L. 400+Cu. In., reaching ?? hp.!

It has Cruise Control!

Power windows!

Power mirrors!

Radio that works!

It has a 2nd gear that works!

It doesn’t constantly leak coolant!

He isn’t afraid to drive the 3 hrs. home anymore!

My nephew needed a New Creation to replace his previous incapabilities.

A true Christian receives a new nature.

The key to our verses is 2Cor. 5:17—“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Paul clarified the significance of being a new creation in Christ to the Corinthian church.

There is significance to being a new creation in Christ.

INSTRUMENTATION/Mediation(5:20)

Explanation:(5:20)Mediation

5:20—“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”

As a result of the apostolic acceptance of that actual “reconciliation” wrought by God’s love in “Christ,” these newly gained “are” “now” themselves new creatures & “are” thus become “ambassadors” for “Christ” Himself. These are equipped for a new/different purpose...Ambassadorship!

It is in that manner(“as though”) of “ambassadors” that God is “pleading”/exhorting/inviting the world, the church, & the Corinthians. We are not only God’s ambassadors but it is “as though” God Himself were doing the “pleading”!

The Corinthian’s personal minister/“ambassadors”(“we”) are begging(“implore”) the church “to be reconciled to God.” Their “imploring” arises on “behalf” of “Christ.” Because “Christ” has given Himself to our redemption, we thus are compelled to “implore” others to His “reconciliation.”

Argumentation:

**Heb. 12:12-15—“Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, & the feeble knees[Job 4:3-4; Isa. 35:3-4], & make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all people, & holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, & by this many become defiled;”

**1Thess. 5:14-28—“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves & for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; & may your whole spirit, soul, & body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. Brethren, pray for us. Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”

1Tim. 2:1-6—“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, & giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings & all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet & peaceable life in all godliness & reverence. For this is good & acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved & to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God & one Mediator between God & men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher & an apostle--I am speaking the truth in Christ & not lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith & truth.”

Right now, this word in which we are involved, is Paul’s being an ambassador for God & His kingdom. He still, some 1900 years later, is declaring Christ’s perfect mediation!

**Rom. 6:4-14—“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, & your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

Col. 3:4-10—“When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, & covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, & have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all & in all.”

The other day(Thurs. Feb. 25, 2016) I noticed that there were some people who appeared to be attempting to remove the capsized boat that has been stranded on the sand bar in the Carrabelle River for some years now/By their actions they are proclaiming, “This boat does not belong here, it needs to be removed.”/They are mediators-instruments for removal of passed ‘sins’(having not removed it before) as it were/INSTRUMENTATIONs--Mediations

The paving completed(Jan. 2016) between Express Lane & FBCC’s retention pond/The Carrabelle mayor approved such action thru the City Council & the State of Florida/Required mediation to affect what was accomplished/Instrumentation was required to bring about the needed change/INSTRUMENTATIONs--Mediations
